Overall, the market is good, but many things need to be fixed. Fruits and vegetables sell in poor hygiene conditions. Prices are affordable for most households items. This place wheelchair friendly.
Mainly a market for fresh vegetables and fruits. Most items are pre-portioned and need to be picked as is. The price is lesser than the supermarkets, so don't be picky about the hygiene and packing. The market is as clean as it could get for an open market. All the vendors transfer the portions in plastic bags and hand over the item to you when you pay. Some big sized items can be selected and picked on paying the as mentioned price per piece. It's a cash only market, where all the items are in 1-5 Pounds only. Some vendors sell breads, eggs, milk, cosmetics, imitation jewellery and curtains also in the open market. But if you are looking for more options and variety in inedible items then walk into the Bullring indoor and rag markets situated just next to the bullring open market.
The BEST place for cheap veg if you go slightly later 4-6pm. got 50 spring onions for 50p. You do gotta be careful to make sure what you are buying is not manky or past its sell by date if going in the evening, but most things can be fixed with a good wash or freezing. much more fun than aldi.
I love this place. Cheep, full of community and multicultural vibes. This is real Birmingham
Amazing selection of fresh fruits and vegetables. I recommend going there half an hour before it closes. You may need to elbow your way around, but they boost sales before they pack away by reducing the prices dramatically.
Very chaotic market. Catered more to African and Asian tastes, as you can find a lot of exotic produce, and a lot of stalls owned by same families. On the other hand, prices are really good so if you don't mind utter chaos then it's worth to visit.
Been coming here for years, but it's the 1st time this year that I have passed through. I see we have some newer stalls selling african fabric and ready-made women's clothes in particular. So happy to see them both there. Shout out to Sister Rose and Sister Christina; two wonderful women with African clothing stalls there. I bought a lovely African blouse from Sister Rose, made in Ghana, and a wonderful dress jackets from Sister Christina, also made in Ghana. Thank you both. I also picked up a few unusual hats I'm the original Black Brummie Peeky Blinder before the show even came on telly
Brilliant market. Good bargains. Worth a look and the nearby car park is not expensive
Had fun walking around and got all I went there for at great prices too. Still the best place to shop
Nice and interesting place to visit
