Did not have big expectations after lockdowns and I am so happy I've been proven wrong! New menu, great team, lots of space, food is good and still very reasonably priced. I've been here more than 10 times this year and have not been disappointed so far. Michelle is fantastic and the rest of the team are also very kind and efficient. It is too bad that the place's reputation is dragging it down as things are great this year and it deserves a lot more praise than it gets.
Regularly have Sunday breakfast with my friend here. Always good food and excellent service. Especially yesterday when they were very short staffed - Michelle is so efficient and coped amazingly on her own even though it was very busy. She always has a warm welcome for us and is always happy in her job - she is an absolute star!
We booked on Sunday just passed for a large party to celebrate my daughters birthday, service was brill, food was great, Michelle did an excellent job of taking care of us all even having the difficult job of taking the photographs which meant moving furniture to accommodate our large party! She couldn’t have been more helpful and we hope to see her again on our next visit!!
We were in today, just after opening. As always had a delicious meal, I struggled to finish mine, so no dessert. I have to give an fabulous review for our waitress Jo, she was so lovely, very happy and so friendly. I seriously hope she's on next time we're in. 5 stars from us.
We a party of 6 visited here for my mother in law's 70th and I was so looking forward to the carvery here as the last time I was here the roast beef was to die for. Unfortunately it was a big let down this time. The roast beef looked lovely until the man cut into it and it was pink, next slice he cut the blood was running out so I ended up having to ask him to take it off my plate as there was no way I could of ate it and I ended up with gammon and turkey instead. The turkey was ok but bland, the gammon was awful so fatty and chewy and I ended up not eating it. My MIL had beef, gammon and pork and she couldn't eat any of them as they were all so tough. My partner asked for an end bit of the beef so there would be no blood thinking I would be able to eat it, it turned out to be like trying to chew a bit of hard rubber. As it turned out only 1 out of 5 of us managed to eat the gammon, which was rather disappointing giving that's the only meat my son will eat and he sat chewing at bit for several minutes before resorting to spitting it in a tissue. The sausage that comes with the meal were all very over cooked and near black, the pigs in blankets were really nice though. The cauliflower was still hard in the cheese sauce and all other veg was very bland which wouldn't of been to bad had we had some lovely meat to save the day. The strawberries and ice cream my daughter got for her pudding did look rather tasty. But after paying £72 for a very disappointing meal I don't think we will be risking going back for such a price. Which is a shame as when the food is good it is really good.
Our previous visit had been most enjoyable so we were looking forward to our repeat visit to start our holidays. Unfortunately very poor experience this time. We went for carvery, two chefs at counter ignored us and after ringing the bell person who came through was so indifferent it ventured on complete rudeness. Yorkshires were hard, only half slices if beef, roast potatoes were burnt and like rocks. Asked for gravy as dish empty but gave up after waiting 5 minutes. Daughter ordered macaroni which took over 30 minutes to arrive and had to be sent back to be reheated as stone cold in the middle. Overall a very poor food experience with staff who basically couldn't care less.
Went for a family meal. Fantastic friendly service by Michelle, so very welcoming. Food arrived quickly and have a good selection to choose from. Would definitely return
Short staffed unfortunately. Mr Manager was kept very busy along with his staff. He is worth his weight in gold. In my opinion. This is fast food and good value for money.
We’ve become breakfast regulars and can’t fault it! Michelle is always a great help and provides a wonderful service. Cheap , cheerful and filling :
Booked a table for 1930 for 6 people. 2 adults and 4 children. Arrived to be told there was no carvery meat left and that there wasn’t much pizzas or burgers either and that they were planning on shutting early. Really poor as they had contact details for the booking and could have given us a call. Pretty late at night to be turning away family bookings. However the website was still accepting bookings as we had booked late on. Won’t be back in a hurry.
