I wanted to write an up to date review for this business as I was thoroughly impressed with our recent holiday there. We are a family of four who found the property initially by searching for the criteria of electronic charging for our car & dog friendly cottages. We then filtered the list on dates, proximity to the coast and facilities available on site & definitely made the right choice! These holiday's aren't a small investment for a family, so you want to be sure that you are going to get quality and family enjoyment on your visit. Here is an overview of our experience that will hopefully help: We saw the weather forecast the week before coming & it showed heavy rain every day during our stay. That's not a great prospect, although we did get some spells of dry weather. Thankfully this didn't stop us enjoying our holiday and we made good use of the facilities as a result... - Indoor pool was a huge hit with the kids, usually very quiet and is surrounded by a hot tub and a sauna which we enjoyed too. It was great seeing our 5 year old really take to the water without armbands in the week and by the end of it be diving to the bottom to gather her diving toys. This became one of a few communal spots where the kids got to know their neighbours for the week and made plans to meet up with them later in the day. - Games room - Including Giant connect 4, Pool table, Table tennis and Table football. This was well used throughout the holiday, providing a great environment for adults and kids to spend some downtime at the start of the week and then for the kids on their own as they made friends and met here together whilst the adults used the bar. All free which was fab! - Horse riding - We went on two hour long novice riding sessions during our stay. We signed up to this primarily for our daughter who was super excited about going and really enjoyed it. We went along as adults too although worth noting if you are doing more than one session that the route followed is the same each time. We'll look to get some lessons in future so that we can take full advantage of this facility next time. The team at the stables though were very friendly and made everyone feel at ease during the ride. -Parks & play areas The site has a sandpit and two park areas. These are more targeted at kids under 12, but our daughter really enjoyed playing on them during our stay. There is also large trampoline, bowls court and a football goal on the main lawn too which can be used by all. The grounds are also very beautiful, there is an area around the ponds at the bottom that was great for hide and seek and walking the dog off lead. - Although it is cautioned that the ponds are deep and children should be supervised when in this area. - Bar & tuck shop Open three days in the week the bar became one of the adult social spots which was well situated to allow the kids to run around outside and between the games room, sandpit and under 6's play room whilst we could keep an eye on them. The bar was serving a variety of bottled drinks & cocktails and mocktails for the kids so everyone got involved and played some table games. This provided a good environment to get to know the hosts Philip & Louise & the other guests during our stay. - Treatment room This was a fab facility to have on site, we contacted Hazel who provides the service for the site and was brilliant. We had two massages and also a slightly adapted manicure suitable for our daughter. The whole process was really simple to book and organise so I'd highly recommend giving it a try on your own visit. - Laundry room - This really helped given the bad weather, there were about 4 washing machines and an industrial dryer +iron etc available centrally for us to use. We ended up needing to regularly dry off towels and did a washing load whilst we were there too. Again all free for use by the residents. Overall fantastic holiday and lovely hosts - we would definitely go back again in the future! - Please see the noteworthy details, food details and activities information too. Nearby activities: Beach access - You can drive to Bude beach in about 7 mins and walk within about 30 mins. I did a 5k run one morning in around that time which was a round trip from the cottage to the sea pool and back. - The kids loved visiting the sea pool which is a safe attraction covered by lifeguards etc and out of the way of tidal currents although we couldn't resist the sea itself either. Great fun body boarding Tip Broom Manor hire body boards & have communal buckets and spades to save you needing to get your own! - Dogs are allowed on leads here. - We visited Sandymouth beach, although the tide was in so it was more stones when we went - good to let the dog off though & there is geo-caching along the costal path to consider. - We had a day trip to Boscastle which was fab too, although took the dog with us so couldn't go in all the shops or the witch craft museum which I think the kids would have enjoyed. - Outdoor pool - we only used this once during our stay, but that's because the weather wasn't so great. If the sun had been out I can see that we would have used this way more. - Tennis courts we didn't use these during our stay but if we had more time and the weather was better would have done Food & drinks: Eating out - It's called out that you should really book ahead when visiting as the local places to eat fill up quickly. In our case this was compounded by having fussy kids and time restrictions due to having to collect the dog whilst in day care etc. Most places don't serve food until after 5pm so timing was more of a challenge and we ended up eating in the cottage a few times as a result. The places we did get to try that we liked were the "Ultimate fish company Ltd" - for nice takeaway fish & chips. Rosie's Kitchen at Crooklet's Beach Pizza was great here, The Break Bar near Widemouth Beach Had a decent sit down meal here with a good menu choice and also the burgers at the National trust Cafe in Sandymouth beach were amazing. Noteworthy details: Doggy Day care - we pre-booked two days of day care with Wags doggy day care in Bude. It is 6 mins away from the cottages by car and was actually fantastic. The dog loved it and it meant we could go out and enjoy time with the kids without being tethered the whole time. The dog was exhausted when we picked her up and tried to jump over the gate to get in when we returned the next day. A positive sign so much so that we booked in for a third day and enjoyed another day on the beach together : One possible enhancement would be the ability to hire large dog creates as it was difficult to get a big enough one in the car for our dog to use during the stay and I wouldn't want to risk not having the dog crated overnight in the property. We bought an all Electric car this year, the big question for us was could we do the journey from Northampton to Bude during peak travel season, reduce the car's range by adding a roof bag and not run into issues with the charge point availability? - This is why EV charging was high on our list as there isn't many operable fast chargers in the Bude area. There are two 7KW chargers available on site here and this worked out perfectly for us as we were able to keep topped up every day and were at 100% ready to make our way home on departure day. All of the fast chargers in Bude were broken or non operational during our visit so without this we would have been in trouble. We did find some slow chargers in the beach carparks & the carpark near the local co-op though - Worth noting too that the site has its own solar farm so a lot of the energy used seems to be locally produced, great to see sustainability in mind.
Great holiday with the family, with 2 young boys 5 and 8 we wanted somewhere for them to burn off energy and knew Broomhill from visiting over the years since I was a child. Facilities are great, cottages are very comfortable and the grounds and setting are incredibly peaceful and safe to be confident to let the kids roam and play. Philip and Louise were great hosts and looking forward to returning again!
We stayed at Broomhill Manor at the beginning of August with our two daughters 8 and 10. Our reservations about a the British summer weather were half realised and the weather was not fantastic but this is where Broomhill Manor comes into its own. The facilities to keep the children entertained were second to none, we swam in the well appointed indoor pool with jacuzzi, sauna and gym, the out door pool is heated so even if the weather is not hot it’s still fun in the pool. The games room, horse riding and tennis court were all used and the kids had a ball. When the sun shines Cornwall’s beaches are world class and you can drive and walk to them from Broomhill. We stayed in a beautiful little cottage that was well equipped and comfortable, it had everything to properly self-cater for a family, it was clean and welcoming, with a complimentary cream tea for us all on arrival. Our hosts Philip and Louise were always available and always charming and helpful, suggesting restaurants, beaches and day trips. This is their first year at Broomhill and they have plans to add to and enhance the facilities whilst keeping the charm of this beautiful cottages and site intact. If you want a holiday in the UK that can deliver, whatever the weather then I can’t recommend Broomhill Manor enough, definitely 5 stars.
On our ninth visit. Great base from which to explore North Cornwall. Excellent onsite facilities including swimming pool, tennis court and games room. The self catering accommodation is well equipped and spacious. Highly recommended.
Fantastic holiday cottages. We arrived yesterday 28/05/22 and we are really enjoying it. Great facilities and will absolutely come back again.
Cottages are a high standard and a lot of the facilities are included: tennis, pool, table tennis, 2 swimming pools indoor and outdoor - both heated, snooker plus washing and drying machines. Extra paid facilities include for example spa, bar, the ability to order home made food to be delivered to the cottage with 24 hours notice and archery if enough people sign up. All were excellent.
We stayed here during July and got lucky with the weather so the outdoor pool was very popular. There are also stables, a tennis court, indoor pool and spa, an honesty bar, bbq for each cottage, kids play room, laundry room. Overall good facilities and friendly owners.
Lovely cottages and a wonderful location. Our own hot tub for a week was bliss. Plenty to do in the area and the hosts were very friendly
absolutely brilliant place to stay, would definitely go back again. also would highly recommend this place. Nearby activities: coast/beaches, shops are close by, Safety: very child friendly and safety is well thought about. Food & drinks: pubs and restaurants close by and walkable
Great facilities, lovely pool and hot tub. Staff are very helpful and the grounds are lovely. On site stables with horse and pony rides too.
