My husband was admitted to this hospital through the night into A&E our first experience of a hospital in Wales.Throughout his stay he was treated with every care which was wonderful as he has dementia, was very frightened having undergone surgery in the past with crumbling discs. I did not get to meet the staff personally , but switchboard , nurses , staff nurse who telephoned me were so lovely and helpful. It concluded with a junior orthopaedic doctor phoning me this evening to say that my brief rest period is over and husband after very thorough investigation can be discharged this evening. Thankyou all so much for your kindness and help, not forgetting the lovely 999 crews involved, so very much appreciated, from the Crozier family . Fantastic hospital NHS.
Several months ago I was admitted to Aberystwyth Hospital and remained for a number of weeks. I actually sent an e: mail never acknowledged to the chief executive listing numerous concerns. I found the entire establishment completely unsatisfactory. Concerned for my own well-being and being denied access to senior staff, I actually made contact with another hospital seeking assistance The entire hospital and the way in which the hospital is administered needs to be investigated I returned to the hospital today 04 August 2022 for an X-Ray -:: the radiology team were absolutely wonderful, entirely professional, helpful and very kind -:: I could not in any way fault the radiography team that dealt with me -:: thank you However, my concerns relative to the hospital and the overall administration have only been compounded Very few staff / patients / visitors wore masks and social distancing was completely ignored -:: how many people died of COVID in June / July 2022 ??? COVID is still very much with us -:: caution in all walks of life should be observed, particularly in health care facilities
Both A&E and Dyfi West ward in Bronglais Hospital were exceptional in taking care of me when I had a sudden medical emergency and ended up having to stay for a week. They were absolutely wonderful, day and night. I was in pain, and scared, and needed a lot of help. They were cheerful, friendly, caring, and always competent. I felt safe with them. I felt taken seriously and that I could ask anything. Yes, the wait in A&E was long, but that's down to decades of delivery under-investment. What they do with what they're given is nothing short of a miracle. Protect the NHS at all costs - it's an extraordinary institution.
Absolutely brilliant! Was seen within an hour and a half at the A&E. The Cardiology department are all delightful as are the nurses. A relief to meet doctors who believe your concerns and do everything they can to help.
Another relatively negative experience. 24 hours it took from walking through the doors to have an X-ray and be sent home with antibiotics! I waited nearly 5 hours to be seen in a&e after being sent by my GP to rule out a blood clot in my lungs. Another lady having waited hours to be seen for DVT! The prioritising of patients is clearly lacking.. broken ankles seen before potential blood clots and head injuries? Relatives told to leave as there wasn’t enough room in the department to accommodate, except nobody filled the seats and elderly partners left to stand outside! Bossy nurses giving daggers to any partner who dare stay in their seats! My partner was left stood outside and wondering Aberystwyth until the late evening, having travelled 2 hours to the hospital our nearest! Was admitted to majors and along with other people forced to lay on a trolley in a corridor, absolutely no privacy at all! Some patients left shouting for nurses help and others complaining as they had been there for 12+ hours and had still not seen a doctor! I was shuned from corridor to corridor in random chairs. I had an X-ray before being admitted, it took 13 hours for them to look at it and confirm no PE. Was dismissed with yet a 3rd course of antibiotics when I still felt absolutely dreadful, was kicked out with nowhere to go and no way home! Subsequently had to walk my poorly self to the nearest train station! There were a couple of nice nurses Rosie being one that was just about the only redeeming factor. Nurses were bossy, pushy and rude. No bedside manner or empathy. Not one person came to talk to me about the X-ray results, what was happening or what exactly I was being admitted for! Absolute shambles! Chaotic and disorganised and you can’t blame everything on covid anymore. Hygiene was poor. Toilets were filthy, previous patients toothbrushes and shower gel etc, bed pans and gowns strewn on a wheelchair in the toilet! I’ve been in a few hospitals and this is bar far the worst I’ve ever set foot in! All in all a very negative experience. I appreciate the NHS is on its knees. But it’s hardly a surprise beds are few and far between when it took me 24 hours to have an X-ray and be sent home with antibiotics!!
I've never written a review before, but this really irritated me. Today between 9 - 10am waiting to see a Doctor in A&E I witnessed a Nurse in a light blue uniform Name tag said Myra, being very unprofessional. She was speaking to another staff member, a man in a maroon coloured uniform. She was making jokes about how stupid it is that the patients are waisting their valuable time, later on again she starting ranting to the same man about how 'dumb' all the patients are and that a particular patient should be grateful and not complain about their circumstances since they have 3 weeks off work. When dealing with her myself she came across very passive aggressive, and despite it being essential for myself to visit A&E, she made me feel uncomfortable. Everyone else was professional and well mannerd, but whoever Myra is shouldn't make fun of patients or rant about them in the workplace, especially when there's audience.
Our first experience with this hospital and their team in A&E yesterday. They were attentive, caring and very thorough. They are under obvious pressure with not enough space as it is a small hospital despite being very busy with full wards they did their best looking after my husband. Thank you team all your hard work is appreciated. It was also a pleasant surprise to see that it was free on site parking for visitors as we live an hour away from any hospitals I had to wait for my husband in the car for a few hours without extra expense or worry. Thank you Bronglais.
Warm welcome by a staff who was on her break ,, explained where to go and what to do . Totally different experience of what we see here in England .Very much supporting staff,, not much waiting in A&E, polite and well behaved staff . Free parking . I think NHS England should consider looking into this and either build more hospitals or appoint more staff to provide good care .
Went in for stroke symptoms on the advice of 111, got told it was due to autism and that we shouldn't take vaccines. 10/10 would wait a few hours for again
My mother was admitted to A &E on Monday 10th Jan 2022. Staff were excellent. So patient and kind. My mother is 87 and hard of hearing but they were lovely with her. The doctor and consultant were very patient explaing things to her. Well done all staff on A&E. And thank you very much.
