Visited France using the Portsmouth to St Malo service and could not fault a single thing about our journeys. Friendly helpful staff super clean facilities. The food in the self service was great value and excellent quality. Will use Brittany Ferries again and would recommend them.
Food in the a la carte was awful. Standard cabins were clean and comfortable. Shop was expensive, duty free not really duty free. Staff in the tapas very nice and friendly. Sun chairs, more needed. Overall the 36hr journey was too much, as not much to do for adults. Plenty to keep the kids amused. Free on demand tv programme's, free 1/2 hour WiFi then you have to pay 25 euros for the duration of the crossing if you want it.
First on this ferry for overnight passage from Portsmouth to Cherbourg. Boarding was a relative easy process. We booked a comfortable seat...which was Ok. Friendly staff.
We were here as foot passengers. Cab from Portsmouth & Southsea station cost £7.50 metered, July ‘24. No obvious pedestrian signs for the walking route from the station, allow about 30 minutes. The new ferry terminal is shared with several other ferry companies. For foot passengers, Brittany Ferries are not the brown building with large ‘Brittany Ferries’ signs, the terminal is on the other side of the car park. Motor traffic and cyclists simply follow the signs. Not a lot in the way of facilities. There is though a left luggage office, charging £5.00 per item. A surprise as Brittany Ferries assured me there was none. Had we known we’d have arrived earlier and spent some time in the town. A small shop on the ground floor and a simple café upstairs. If you’re hungry, wait ‘till you are aboard ship I’ll review that separately. There is a pleasant roof garden sheltered from the wind by glass screens, but nothing if it is raining. Plenty of indoor seating.
Salamanca ferry provided efficient services and kept passengers informed with applicable information announcements. The aircon in our room didn't work properly. After complain about it to customer service on the Salamanca ferry they offered me an alternative room for no extra charge to sleep in while my travel companion remained in the original room as he was OK with the temperature of the room.
The cabin was larger than I expected. It was clean and neat. The restaurant food was excellent. There was also entertainment during the afternoon and evenings.
I’ve been using this company for many years now & have always found them to be professional & efficient. Although I use a 3rd party app to book my sailings AFerry you can always book directly with them. Sailings are on time I’ve never experienced a delay, & the ferry’s are clan, well equipped & they have decent bars, restaurants & duty free shopping on board Portsmouth to Santander. The organisation of loading vehicles is quick & well organised. I would throughly recommend using them, but beware of the wifi services onboard as recently it’s been well publicised that certain networks will stay connected to the ships wifi satellite causing enormous roaming costs.
The best way to travel to Spain if you have a pet. The best thing is that for almost two days, you can rest, disconnect and have fun while making such a long trip. The children's play areas are perfect, although sometimes there are not so young children who play too much. We recommend the lounge area, it is worth paying the difference to be in a quiet place with good food and drink. We travel 4 times a year of which, twice, there is no room for pets and we can't travel by ship. I sincerely believe that being 1 of the 2 ways to leave the Uk with a pet, having only 10 kenells and 10 or 20 rooms, is a really ridiculous and insignificant amount since trying to book the trip more than 4 months in advance, it is impossible to find a place and because of our jobs, it is impossible to book before. Please, try to put more places, all the people with pets that I talk to, complain. Of the few seats. As long as there is space, I will travel with you because it is great.
Great ferry service. I enjoyed my time aboard sailing to and from St Malo.
Absolutely awful experience. Never again!!! Long hold up at the check in, eventually had to jump lanes. Cabins were not ready so couldn't use for half hour after boarding. The whole place felt unclean. The worst was yet to come. Stone cold fried eggs, old sausages and soggy bacon was slapped on a plate with no manners - felt sick ... Finally got to the cabin and as the door opened we got hit by an overpowering smell of sweat guessing cleaning staff with outrageous bo. I would expect much higher quality for the price of the tickets.
