A wonderful, historic hotel. The staff are very friendly and attentive, rooms clean and very comfortable and the food dinner & breakfast was just delicious. Really loved the interior decor and the general ambience was perfect lots of Rabbie Burns references. The only negative point is the limited parking but there's not much the hotel can do about it. Hope to return soon. Rooms: The rooms have an old fashioned look to them but still have all mod cons. Very good quality bedlinen and towels etc. Loved the freestanding bath, plus there's also a shower. Nearby activities: Situated in the heart of historic Burns Country: right next door to the Burns Monument & Gardens, Alloway Old Kirk and the newer Parish Church, and of course the Brig O'Doon itself. Alloway village centre and Burns Cottage his birthplace are just a short walk away. Also just a short drive into the much larger town of Ayr.
Beautiful place, lovely decor recognising where it is and its place in scottish history. I enjoyed its Burns connection without feeling it was overly romantic or contrived. Food was lovely, staff were too. Enjoyed a wee wander over the bridge and round the monument and graveyard. Very pleasant. Area along the river beautifully landscaped too, would be a delight on a bright evening. Hope to be back soon.
Came across this Beautiful Old Establishment by chance but, so glad we did. The Hotel and Grounds are Totally Breathtaking. The Hotel itself was Built in 1827 and was one of Scotlands' Famous Bard Rabbie Burns Famous Haunts. Will definitely be staying here again soon, and may also get Married here. Nearby activities: Birthplace of Scotlands Famous Bard, Rabbie Burns, Alloway. The Town of Ayr is nearby and Dunure is only a short drive away. Food & drinks: Amazing Food, served in Beautiful Surroundings. Noteworthy details: Ideal Venue for a Wedding or Party.
The Robert Burns/Tam o Shanter themed paintings always amaze me in here, really quite something to see. Decor has been modernised in the past year but they've kept the art work thank god, it's a lovely setting by the river Doon, hard to beat really. I went today for a high tea, good value, lovely sandwiches and a selection of cakes etc. The staff were very kind and friendly especially the girls at the front desk! Always give you a really warm welcome which makes all the difference, alot of other places could learn from this! It's a great hotel/restaurant/bar to bring visitors as it has loads of character. Will be back soon.
Beautiful venue with very well trained staff. rooms are very big & beds comfy. Location close enough to ayr town centre but also far enough away it feels in the countrysideRooms: 5/5
New owners, so glad this place has opened back up to the public!! Excellent meals and bar options, staff are lovely too. Can’t wait to see what the new owners do with the place
Beautiful wedding location! Fabulous historic site which has been kept in great shape over the years. Visit the beautiful gardens, or take a walk through some of the local graveyards. Robert Burns history museum is just next door. We had a nice day here, although we did not spent the night at the hotel, admittedly.Location: 5/5
Food was wonderful! Just a shame no public parking and trying to find somewhere was extremely difficult.Service: 5/5
