The quite place next to the river with wonderful view, the place where people come to feed birds and they may come a few hundred of different ones to enjoy a meal. So lovely !
Pleasant place to stop and take a picture with the famous Irish poet. Fairly peaceful area with plenty of birds about.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
You’d be lucky to get a photo here. Usually when I go by it’s full of junkies and drunks swarming the bench. Only reason I got a photo was because it was raining.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait
Nice and relaxed down there especially if you like feeding the ducks and swans and the seagulls and pigeons. People are still feeding the swans white bread, its a no no for swans, It's not good you're a better off giving them the right food. There is a special food for waterfowl that floats on the water is good for ducks and swans seagulls can eat it as well regard to the pigeons you're better off giving a proper pigeon food. I remember an incident where somebody come over and was mentioning that about certain foods but our food was for water poultry that person as we say over here got a kick up the backside. Be safe give them the right food.
I love this statue! This area of the canal is really nice especially in the summer...its just nice to sit down on the bench and clear the mind!! Especially nowadays. There are 2 guys who really are the main bosses of the canal who come in the form of swans! This couple have no fear whatsoever and have been known to take on dogs twice their size! One rap of their beak and some hissing, is enough to send the biggest bravest dogs whimpering away! Its lovley to see families come and kids feeding the swans and ducks seagulls but it really bugs me that people STILL feed these beautiful wildlide BREAD! its thoughtful and a cheap alternative but some people really need to do a little research and discover how danferous it is to feed them bread. Jt literally swells up in their stomach if it even gets that far and can cause otibkrmd....it fills tem upnnnThey love vegetables and fruit...swans LOVE strawberries and pineapple nuts or a bag of wild bird food full of nuts and seeds they love to eat, and cant obv be found in the canal, can be bought in a pet shop fir €3 and will last many visits. The swans would really prefer this food and would be extremley grateful.
Not really looked after enough. But lovely to see
This is on the river that cut all the city. Very nice to you give fruits to the animals and take picture.
Beautiful statue commemorating one of Ireland's greatest Irish writers. Sadly taken way too young at the age of 41. His autobiography Borstal Boy been a great read. He claimed " I only drink on two occasions- when I'm thirsty and when I'm not " RIP
That's a lovely place to visit.
Frankly speaking, people were drinking around & couldn't make any pics...and not nice to stay around as it was messy...but nice to walk by the Royal Canal anyway
