Easily reached on foot from the village along a gravel footpath by the main road, 15mins. Well maintained interior. A multi-lingual audio guide is included with the entry price, this is recommended as there isn’t a lot of information signage. As it’s quite a small castle it’ll only take about an hour to go round but it’s worth it. Check opening times before visiting as it isn’t open all year round. No cafe, but it’s unnecessary as the village is just down the road.

My family and I were finally able to visit Breamar to see the castle of my ancestors. Closed for the winter, we walked around where we were able and took beautiful pictures. We visited the cemetery nearby and read the gravestones. Not far away and still very much a part of the Braemar castle history were highland cows (pronounced “coos” to the locals we spoke with) grazing in a pasture. Very much a worthy trip even in late winter. Thank you to all the volunteers for your hard work keeping the history alive.
