Had a quick walk about before the thunderstorm hit. Beautiful photographic area. Didn't see the peacocks, so need to come again . Fantastic to see the deers up close although we got told not to go closer than 50m, while in the next moment we saw people walk past 3m away from them . Maybe just tell people not to approach too closely and leave it at that. Great place to do your step count.
I recently visited Bradgate Park and had a wonderful experience. The park is beautiful, with peacocks roaming freely and plenty of deer to observe. It's a serene place to enjoy nature, take a walk, and appreciate the wildlife. Additionally, Bradgate Park is perfect for a picnic. There are plenty of open spaces where you can spread out a blanket and enjoy a meal with family or friends. The scenic views and tranquil environment make it an ideal spot for a relaxing picnic. Moreover, the park is dog-friendly, allowing you to bring your furry friends along for the adventure. Highly recommend for a peaceful day out! Restrooms: The restrooms are not well maintained. We had a lovely day out, and we took a picnic. Lovely walk for children and adults. Cafe is lovely and clean. Reasonably priced. Indoor and outdoor seating. Space for ball games, Frisby. Children went in the stream. Seeing the deer was lovely. Everyone came home exhausted and slept well
Bradgate Park is a stunning natural escape located in Leicestershire, offering a rich blend of history, wildlife, and breathtaking landscapes. Spanning over 800 acres, the park provides visitors with a wide variety of experiences, from peaceful walks to historical exploration. The park’s most striking feature is its rugged beauty. Rolling hills, ancient woodlands, and rocky outcrops create a picturesque setting that changes with the seasons. The park is home to a large herd of deer, and spotting these graceful animals is a highlight of any visit. The network of well-maintained paths caters to all levels of walkers, whether you’re looking for a gentle stroll or a more challenging hike. At the heart of the park lies the ruins of Bradgate House, the birthplace of Lady Jane Grey, England’s “Nine Days Queen.” This historical connection adds a layer of intrigue to the park, and the interpretive signage helps visitors appreciate the significance of the site. Nearby, the Old John Tower, a distinctive folly atop the highest hill, offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and is a must-visit for those looking to capture the perfect photo. The park is also equipped with excellent facilities, including a visitor center, tearoom, and well-placed picnic areas. These amenities make it easy to spend a full day exploring, whether you’re there for a family outing, a nature retreat, or simply some fresh air. One thing to note is that the park can get quite busy, especially on weekends and holidays, so arriving early is advisable. Parking is ample but fills up quickly during peak times. In summary, Bradgate Park is a true gem in the East Midlands, offering a perfect mix of natural beauty, historical significance, and wildlife. It’s an ideal destination for anyone looking to connect with nature and history in a serene and scenic environment.
Can't not love a walk through the park on a sun y afternoon. So lovely to get out of the city and into the wild and in such a short drive. Well worth a visit. Plus, visit Deer Barn for great food and drinks in a beautiful setting
One of my favourite spots in Leicester. Such a great day out. I have been here twice now. The views are stunning, and it’s so peaceful. It is a very relaxing place to walk. The park is full of deer, and there’s so much to see. There are plenty of tearooms and toilets. There is a charge for the car park which is paid before exiting. Definitely worth a visit.
We stopped off on our way from Alton Towers back to London to stretch our legs. What a beautiful place! We had a 2hr ramble, taking in Old Johns Tower, the walled off wooded fern sections, and the amazing scenery acres of hills and what I think was Leicester in the distance There are many Red and Fallow deer in the area. They were quite inquisitive when we sat on a ridge to rest, and came close as we didn't bother them. Toilets were clean and open, close to the entrance of the forest. Alot of dog walkers were around, and locals of all ages were getting fresh air. Walking up to Old John was steeper than I expected, but the wonderful views were worth it. There are paths that traverse the base of the hill, so on the return we took one of those. A beautiful forest that seemed like it was very well kept Restrooms: Toilets available at the entrance, 100meters from the car park Dog-friendliness: A lot of locals use these woods to walk their dogs
Beautiful place especially early morning. Can get extremely busy especially at Newtown Lindford end of the park. If crowds are not your thing then chose your time carefully and head off the main road through the park. Put your phones away and enjoy the stunning scenery it never gets tiresome. Dog-friendliness: Stunning place for dog walkers. Only request is to keep pets on a leash. Simple and understandable request which a few find hard to follow.
Lovely big park, lots of wildlife. Some rocks to climb, hills to walk up. Little stream to have a paddle. The paths are nice, so good for wheelchairs and push chairs, always super clean. We don't go here enough.
Lovely walk for the whole family to enjoy. Surfaced path or other footpaths and routes you can follow. Parking can be a nightmare on busy days but there is overflow parking. Stream is lovely for a paddle and there is a visitor centre about a mile down the path fr the main parking
