I'm struggling to believe that in a time of NHS austerity, this Trust can spend £1.5 million pa on a supposedly 'First Responder' advice & support helpline which takes 20 mins of your time under very difficult (& potentially life-threatening) carer circumstances asking inane questions (eg 'how do you spell 'bisoprolol'?) and then the TOTAL sum of their advice & support is 'Phone 111' - no explanation, no advice, no support of any description. Prime example of the not-my-problem mentality which drags the NHS into the mud. And the totally contemptuous handling of the resultant complaint ('lost' it for 6 weeks initially) belies any accountability on their part. For your own sake, anyone who's emotionally vulnerable, try the Samaritans, try your nearest place of worship, yes, even try 111 - maybe if the latter had the First Responders' budget & supposed professionals on the front line, it would be worth contacting - but don't go near this lot. Their contempt for their client group will tip you over the edge. They're obviously very good at public image-making, much less so at person-to-person practice.
