I am a 47 year old with a dodgy knee and stuffed ankle. I have always wanted to have a crack at stand up paddle boarding. I  went in to the shop and booked really simply with the very helpful girl on the counter.

I arrived about 20 minutes before my 12:00 lesson. I was provided with a wetsuit and life jacket and a changing room and introduced to my instructor Megan.

Megan was informative about the board we would be using by explaining the parts of the board and what I should do if I got into trouble.

We then walked our boards to the beautiful waters edge of Lyme bay and Megan then said how we would start my adventure.

The lesson started with me trying to kneel on the board but due to the aforementioned  knee that did not happen. I had to stand up and wether it was luck or skill I was able to stand on the board and even paddle.

We moved out into the bay and a few wobbles later we were out a fair way. Then it happened the dreaded turn but I did it well I did most of it before exiting stage left. No worries pull yourself up on the board and off we go. 

We went up and down the bay three times and I can say turns are not my strong point. I will have to go back and practice those turns on another day with a board from Boylos.

So what do I think of Boylos Watersports?

The booking procedure was the easiest I have undertaken.

Megan my instructor was absolutely awesome. 

Megan was calm patient and didn't get angry with my inability to turn but gave me some great advice to try out on my next try and seemed pleased with the progress I had made in just one hour.

I believe that if Meg had not been so calm and great at teaching an old bloke like me then I would not have got as far as I did.

A big thanks to Boylos Watersports but a massive thank you to Megan for you help and understanding.

Really disappointed with their customer service.  Did not feel like a valued customer. I appreciate I only purchased some wetsuit gloves but the size was not clear on the website and the shop agreed it could have been clearer.  I had to pay £4.00 delivery and £4.40 to return. When asked will you credit the delivery they said no mate !!!.  I then had to chase for the return and credit and they left a voicemail telling me they had not received when I knew they had.   I dug out the tracking to prove they had.  Felt ripped off !!!

My husband and I, both in our 50s, had a great SUP  lesson on the 26th May.
The team were all very friendly and helpful and our instructor was very patient. The weather was fantastic, the sea was very calm. We were out for 50 mins and we were taught all the basics. 
Fun was had removing wets suits afterwards! 
All in all it was great fun, good value for money and we will be returning after the school holidays are over to have another go, or even try kayaking!
