I come here 4 times a week twice a day for breakfast and lunch. The pastries are lovely and the hot food counter is a brilliant addition. Big shout out to the staff especially those who do the hot ciabatta sandwiches at lunch time and the woman on the tobacco counter in the mornings. The service is always brilliant.
No free parking, which is disappointing. I understand they’re going for a more personal, traditional service rather than self-service, but unfortunately the staff seemed uninterested and not particularly bothered. I was also surprised by how small the selection of baked goods was. The Knutsford branch feels much better overall.
Booths is my favourite supermarket in Chorley, and I like to make a trip specially to visit here due to their excellent produce. Often dubbed a “Northern Waitrose” with an emphasis on quality, and I’d go along with that.nnThe store is a decent size with a nice selection, including fresh kiosks for fish, meat and cheese. The store is tidy and easy to navigate, making it easy to find what I’m looking for. I also like the separate alcohol area with a good selection of quality spirits, better than the boring, generic selection you’d find in the average supermarket.nnThe prices are on the higher side here, which is especially noticeable for branded items, so I do mainly visit to purchase their own-brand goods.nnI do find the staff to be friendly, although the service can be slow, the checkouts look like something out of the 1990’s, and there are no self-service tills. They do try to speed things up, by allowing customers with a few items to go to the tobacco and newspaper kiosk to pay for groceries, but I do think bringing the store into the 21st-century with more up-to-date tills, including some self-service ones would make things even better.nnDespite issues with the speed of checking out, this is a great supermarket, and it makes me wish Booths had more locations closer to my home in Manchester.
Booths supermarkets are in a league of their own for all the right reasons.nAttractive aisles, fresh produce, no wilting flowers!!nIt's quite rare for us to be able to shop at Booths just because there isn't a local Booths to where we live.nHowever it's always a treat to visit and shop at Booths when we come across onenWe visited Chorley today, it's traditional yet modern, pleasant and full of personable staff who just can't do enough for you. There is always a gorgeous homely smell when shopping too.nA highly recommended shopping experience
I’m convinced Booths has quietly mastered the art of making an ordinary weekly shop feel like a civilised outing.nnThe produce is consistently excellent, the shelves are thoughtfully stocked and there always seems to be a member of staff who actually knows where something is, a surprisingly underrated skill these days.nnThis isn’t my local but I divert here on the way up the ‘61 after work. It’s conveniently placed next to M&S for pickybits!nnBooths is also one of the few supermarkets where nobody appears to be in a race against time. People browse, chat over coffee and leave with flowers they hadn’t planned to buy. It feels less like shopping and more like borrowing an hour of calm.nnCould I spend less elsewhere? Undoubtedly. But value and price have never been quite the same thing.nnI’ve noticed some reviews complaining about queues or the odd item being unavailable. To me, that’s simply the reality of a busy store that people genuinely choose to visit rather than endure out of necessity.nnLife is busy enough without rushing absolutely everything. Booths seems to understand that.
