From the moment you walk past the pond and into the building it feels welcoming. Before all of what im writing about further down I'd like to mention Alice Powell, patient liaison Officer, she help me so much prior to making the choice to use this hospital. From the receptionist with a smile and ready to help is only the start. Now, I hate hospitals and make no bones about it but this isn't like a normal hospital. From the smell of the coffee in reception to the lovely staff in catering, I had a lady called Jane for most of my short time with St Edmunds Hospital and she and the team couldn't have been more helpful. Then comes the nursing staff, can't mention them all so I won't for fear of missing someone! All fabulous people often doing a difficult job with a smile. The surgeon, in my case Mr Wronka, what can be said about this man? I was in so much pain, he basically rebuilt my hip and I now have no pain, thank you so much, you are a man worth knowing. Also the team he works with, from the porters to the person who deals with anesthetics, all great. I mustn't leave those in the recovery room out either. I was lucky enough to have a young man called Andrea for physio, a good laugh but with a serious side that made me feel like I wanted to do the exercises he gave me. I'm sure a huge part of my post operation recovery is down to him and the fact I can now move freely compared to pain I was experiencing.
Such a brilliant experience at this wonderful hospital! I was fortunate to receive a total hip replacement under the expertise of the amazing Mr Dunn and the whole procedure was flawless from start to finish. Had my initial consultation mid July, and here I am walking around without my crutches now November for the first time since 2020. I could not even take one step without my crutches before my surgery but today I walked into the village shop unaided. It's nothing short of a miracle. The team at the hospital were second to none... I actually ENJOYED it! Thank you so much everyone, for giving me back my life
This was by far the best hospital experience I have ever had. The facilities are superb surpassed only by your staff. They are professional, knowledgeable friendly and approachable. At a time when when your somewhat anxious they could not have done more to reassure and put me at ease.nThe aftercare, telephone calls at home etc, continue the above. I couldn’t have wished for more. Thank you.
All members of staff were consistently professional, courteous, and patient, and they made every effort to ensure I felt comfortable and well informed throughout my visit. The room was warm, clean, and well prepared, which immediately created a reassuring environment. My surgeon and the entire theatre team took the time to introduce themselves and clearly explain their roles, which I greatly appreciated. From admission through to discharge, the standard of care I received was exceptional, and I felt fully supported at every stage of my treatment.
Everyone I came into contact with were friendly, professional and caring. Even walking to theatre everyone said good morning and smiled even if they were not involved in my care. Although I am an NHS patient I felt no different from a private patient and was treated the same. Amazing staff, lovely clean facilities, very calming environment and lovely food. highly recommended and if you are about to go in to St Edmunds you are in very safe and professional hands.
