I spoke on the phone to the Manager Mark, he was very knowledgeable and helpful on the phone.  I popped in to see him with the intent of buying a couple of pairs of shoes; I'm not sure if he was off or in the back as one of the store assistance did not say anything when I asked for him.

They seemed to lack basic knowledge on the shoes and when I asked them what a Goodyear Storm Welt was the assistant informed me that she was new and took me to her colleague.  I was told that it's just a method of fixing the sole.

I was advised that a waterproof shoe is something with a thick sole and the fixing's and sole's are down to preference. 

I was disappointed as I felt the service and knowledge should be greater for a local independent store but also for a store selling £400 shoes.

I made my excuses and left with the intent of going to Northampton to buy direct.
