Blackness Vets is a busy, friendly practice in central Dundee, treating all companion animals and exotic pets. We have been caring for pets in Dundee for over a century and our aim is to provide a personal service to all our clients and their pets.



"Blackness Veterinary Surgery is a practice who have been caring for pets in Dundee for over a century and our aim is to provide a personal service to all our clients and their pets.We employ 8 vets and we will always try to ensure that you can see the vet of your choice, as we feel continuity of care is important. Our veterinary team treats all companion animals and exotic pets, providing a full range of medical and surgical services from our Brown Street premises. With a wide range of special interests including surgery, internal medicine, geriatric medicine, rabbits, reptiles, and behaviour problems of cats and dogs, our team are well equipped to deal with almost any situation."

Took my cat Pumpkin here and it couldn't have gone better! Coming in for the first time, everyone was friendly and welcoming! There were two separate waiting rooms for cats and dogs which was smart. There were also sign-posted platforms for cat carriers to make them more comfortable!! Leo saw him and treated him so well that despite it being his first vet visit, he didn't even flinch... Not even for his vaccine : He ran us through everything we needed to know for his vaccines and the works and we were on our way quickly with our healthy boy. Can't reccomend enough, thank you!!

I’ve been at the vets for first time this afternoon with my healthy kitten, after having some meds from here with no instructions, applying two drops to its mouth he started shaking and foaming on the mouth. When I called stress about it they calmly wanted to charge me even more for checking him. They asked me to come in with some extra cost and just in case he got worse I toke him back. They charge me for weighting him again? I’ve paid it but got a very cold feeling at this new vet. Imagine is really an emergency.
Helped us handle the unfortunate and sudden passing of our wee pal Benji , staff were very helpful both on the phone and in the surgery - thanks. To help my Mum I bought her a new wee Yorkie, who had the pleasure of having his first visit and vacs yesterday, again staff couldn't be more helpful, back again in two weeks for his second lot - see you then
