Blackfriars Bridge is one of a number of Thames bridges included in the roll out of the Illuminated Bridges project which so far runs from Tower to Waterloo bridges. It’s been strangely under-publicised but well worth checking out. I hope the photos illustrate this. It’s completely free.
I’ve always driven passed or over this bridge and also cycled over it during the day. During the day it’s always busy, being one of the prime routes to get over the river. I rode my bike over it at night time the other day, and was I taken back by the views! The atmosphere was very calm and relaxing, even after my heavy bike ride!
I love this bridge!! Its a hidden jewel for me. A nice large clean track for a runner with subtle yet soothing river views. I crossed it many times and belief set myself as a local legend on the bridge. So can't fault it any way!
From city centre, towards yo Blackfriars, I riding almost every day, and those few pictures just a simple reminder what we missing- simple beauty of our city.

Beautiful bridge with a great view of the city on one side and Southbank on the other side.
From Blackfriar station to walk till the end of Blackfriar Bridge and from down the Bridge towards the bank of River Thames I enjoyed this area. Further walk from Blackfriar Bridge towards London Bridge found further more beautifull view of River Thames as well sailing of ferries and motor boats on the river.
A nice bridge to walk across. Ample space for pedestrians with wider footpath. Get a nice view of the St Paul’s cathedral’s dome from the bridge.
