Unwelcoming landlord and death by passive smoking. Such a shame that one of the last genuine pubs in the area is ran in such a way. Great if you like a pint with a long full of cigarette smoke and an unfriendly welcome. I about turned as soon as I stepped foot within.

According to John Buchan in "Huntintower", the Black Bull is "one of the few very good inns left in the world. .......there are always bright fires and hot water and old soft leather armchairs and an aroma of good food ". Who am I to argue with that?

my self and my friend enjoyed a meal on a Friday evening 6 weeks ago so much so I recommended it to my nephew and partner for his 30th birthday. I was sick and embarrassed to hear he was refused due to clive not having the stove/cooker on all day so was not going to put it on for him. clive never even looked up from the football he was watching to respond it must be good to be able to turn away business or does he treat young people differently. after this I shall never be back which will be a shame as I was brought up in the village, when the coulters ran it.
