Forty phone calls, went through to a queue four times. Of those four times, my call wasn't answered once, just left to ring out. Not sure if my GP is any good since I can't actually get to see them. **UPDATE** Managed to get through a few days later and got a same day appointment. Staff on the desk were friendly, and the doctor I saw had a great attitude and explained himself very well. I was going to raise this to a two star review, but I'm happy with the service that was evident. So three stars! Yeah, not great, but you can't have everything.

Great GP’s and the practice nurse is lovely, but no one bothers to answer the phone. I’ve tried calling 10-12 times over the last couple of weeks at varying times because they made a mistake with my prescription and so far I’ve had no one answer the phone. And it’s been the same for the last 6 to 8 months. It’s easier just to go in because you usually find that the receptionists chatting amongst themselves or scrolling through their phones. Such a shame because they really let what would be a fantastic GP surgery down.

GPS are fantastic. However the reception staff are terrible . They don’t move from there seat, never ever answer the phone and it’s becoming increasingly frustrating that whenever I want an appointment or to discuss something I have to go into the surgery. Incompetent at their jobs and are letting the surgery down massively

I am a patient at Birtle View Medical Practice and have been for 6 years. However I am due to register elsewhere. The receptionist who worked there was lovely and made a difference. She was confidential, easy to talk to and made an effort. Unfortunately she left last year and the new team are useless. They can't be bothered to get off their seats to address patient queries and are sat at the same shouting distance to the patients in the waiting room. I have regularly been forced to announce my personal info in front of a room of strangers. An example of this is when making repeat prescriptions. I would rather complete a form and place it in the designated box however despite asking the receptionists if they have any forms they sit at their seats, barely turning away from their computer screens and tell me there aren't any forms available then publically ask my name and medication I would like to re-order. I have heard the ins and outs of other patients names, addresses and medication requirements when I have been sat in the waiting area. It's not good enough. To add to that, the senior receptionist answers the phone huffing and puffing as if she doesn't want to be bothered and the practice consists of mainly locum doctors who change regularly.
