My pet Honey was taken for a check up, the ladies behind the counter didn’t even acknowledge my mum for a solid few minutes, until she had to cough loudly after already trying to speak to them. Then the actual doctor was useless, she was told my dog had sore hips and is sensitive to people she doesn’t know, yet the doctor continues to prod and poke where she was clearly in distress her eyes, then tried to make my dog out to seem vicious. My poor dad had to do the majority of work. She also tried to upsell drops which assumably were pricier than eye gels for my dog, however only after my mothers insistence for an alternative did she actually check and found that there WAS an alternate. The gel itself is ridiculously overpriced also, over £20 for one tube when I got the identical one online for £3.
My Cavalier King Charles Baxter has been with this vets since he was a tiny baby. Having been a frequent flier this year it’s like going to visit friends… for both him and I. Could not recommend highly enough. Professional. Friendly. Kind. Accommodating. Thorough.
We have been bringing all of our pets here for 10+ years and they have always received the best care possible. From Guinea pigs to rabbits and more recently, dogs, the vets have always been friendly and understanding of our concerns and of course they have always taken the best care of our pets during visits and surgeries.
We have been using the services of birch veterinary centre for over twenty years. Caring, compassionate and totally professional. Wonderful staff who care deeply about your pets. Highly recommended.
I recently remembered how upsetting an experience I had here was. I had been using birch vets for upwards of 15 years and it lost me and my animals as trusting and loyal customers with this… My mother and I visited your veterinary practice on the morning of the 26th September 2019. We had an early appointment for my jack Russel Milkshake, who had been previously treated twice for extraction and cleaning of his teeth. After the first extraction We soon noticed that they had left a root of a tooth, which was confirmed by the female vet on our seconded consultation. We took the dog back for a second extraction at a later date and later that day on collection of our dog they had admitted that they had missed and a entire rotten tooth which shouldn’t have been missed if his mouth was thoroughly examined the first time. Upon our arrival this morning for appointment at 9:30 the male vet Mr Phillip Shepherd very begrudgingly ushered us into an examination room. From the beginning he seemed brisk in manner as if we were a hinderance to his morning. Whilst I was politely trying to get my view across he rather aggressively and rudely said “come on just spit it out” I was instantly offended and lost for words, I was infuriated and disappointed that a senior member of the practice was willing the speak to paying customers discourteously. He then made another sly rude comment “we can do something else that requires more money and you can have something else to complain about then hey” which was also made with a smirk and a sneer in his voice. He should be very careful on how he speaks and treats other people as this could have been a different person who wouldn’t have taken it on the chin as myself and my mother had done. My mother was totally disgusted with his attitude and my dog will no longer be coming to this practice if I will be spoken to like dirt.
Zero stars. A 'vet' at this practise who performed spay surgery on our 6 month old kitten somehow stitched through her ureter during the surgery, leading to her body being unable to empty her kidney. Her kidney swelled enormously and bled internally. We ended up at the emergency vet in Chester, and after hours and hours of trying to save her, our perfectly healthy baby girl was euthanised as they were unable to repair the damage. She suffered horrendously and we as a family with children are left with the devastating trauma of her untimely death.
Excellent, very friendly and helpful staff. I have a very nervous labrador, so much so that the vet came out to my car to examine him. She was amazing with him and really put him at ease, so a big thank you from me.
Always professional with the needs and care of your pet coming first. Friendly and reassuring, I could not use another vet.
Brought my hamster to have her teeth trimmed here - they were amazing, did other things I didn't ask for such as a check over and told me she was in perfect health. Will bring all my other hamsters here in the future and recommend for anyone!
Professional, courteous, friendly staff. I am confident that the welfare of my pets is in good hands.
