As a regular visitor of The Birch Tree, I visited last night to try one of their new dishes on the menu, I opted for the Chicken Shawarma, lovely tender pieces of chicken with a delicious taste of Indian spices. Loved every mouthful. Brilliant service, food and company as usual.
Staff were friendly and the service was fast. Food was average, most likely pre-made, frozen and reheated. Thought the prices were a little high for the food quality. It wasn't bad, but we've had better. My biggest complaint would be that the place was too small for its capacity. We struggled to park to begin with, had to wait for someone to leave. Was put on a table in the middle of the restaurant, next to where people go to pay. I asked if we could move to an empty corner table, but was told it was reserved no one sat there during our entire 3 course meal. People were queuing to pay right next to us, our table was nudged as people walked past, and I kept looking up to see people watching me eat. I didn't like it at all and it made me feel quite anxious, especially having people that close to our food while covid is still going on. A suggestion I would make to the place would be to have people pay at their table, where staff bring over the card machine, like most other restaurants do. This would avoid crowding in small spaces. I wouldn't plan to go back there, but I may go back if invited by others at an off-peak time.
First time at the Birch Tree, works Christmas party and would certainly book again. Staff were very helpful, especially the younger staff were excellent, food was hot and a good amount. All the starters and main courses went down well, Turkey, Beef and Salmon all cooked to perfection, vegetables not boiled to death, the gravy was one of the best I've ever tasted. Only the desserts really let down what was a wonderful evening. Baileys cheese cake was tasteless and I love cheesecake! Trifle was mainly custard, Christmas pudding again didn't really have that richness associated with Christmas. Would I go again, certainly the room was an excellent size for 25-40, might go with a few jokes next time, see if I can cheer the bar staff up
Wonderful food - I had a steak that I asked to be cooked blue and it came out done to perfection. The other food was absolutely wonderful and came out without delay. Lovely staff that are friendly and helpful and a really nice place to go for food. Not a cheap place to go to eat but the quality is so good that it really is value for money. I’ll be going back again soon.
My first time here, I went with family for a real Sunday lunch experience. I think booking is essential because all the tables were in use. Everyone happy and very friendly. The food was excellent, the staff were working hard and excelled with their attention to everyone. Think I ate far to much, ha ha. Definitely going again.
The staff were warm, friendly and very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The atmosphere and decor is relaxing and inviting and the food was absolutely delicious and so beautifully presented. Will definitely be back.
Delicious food as always and absolutely loved being in their beautiful botanical oasis garden too! Thank you!
Booked a table for Sunday lunch. Was not disappointed. Generous servings of good food and decent puddings too. A nice selection of local ales and all reasonably priced. We knew it would be good as the car park was full when we arrived!
Had a table for 5 on Sunday early doors. Delightful. Food was great, atmosphere was relaxed if a little busy near the bar. I wouldn't neglect their starters, the mushroom soup was lovely!
Went here for a meal for my future brother in laws mini stag. The food was excellent, and the service and staff were incredibly helpful and attentive. This is the first time I've been here even though on my doorstep and will definitely be coming back with the wife and kids. Keep up the good work. Update to review. Have now been back again with the whole family and wasn't disappointed, it was excellent and will now be one of my go to places for food.
