April 1962, course C11. As a non- Yorkshire lad, Dad was RAF at Dishforth I had a fairly steep learning curve with lads and lasses from mining communities, farming families and all that God's own county entail. Worked out well, the community encouraged by excellent, dedicated staff forged a discipline and respect that saw me thru moving to London at aged 15, eventually establishing a business employing 28 people and, in the eighties a turn over of £2million+ I visited the site in 2016, returning the book awarded for joint course award winner from C11, enjoyed a lovely chat with the staff, took some piccies. May you all continue inspiring youngsters to excell: worked for me!
Today I visited the Centre for nostalgic reasons: I had been there as a sixth former over the new year in 1968-9, on a course run by Scripture Union, where I became a committed Christian, so it was where I had had a life changing experience and I was very heartened to see the Centre still functioning. Keep up the good work!
I did NCS here a few days ago and stayed for 5 days. The activities were great however for some reason we didn't do some of the ones that looked really good. The food isn't anything great but it isn't awful. The instructors are really nice and helpful and make the activities fun while they take precautions to keep us safe. The dorms are quite nice yet the beds aren't great but you couldn't expect much better. Overall Bewerley Park is an amazing place in the middle of a stunning area.
I loved most of the activities here and the staff are mostly nice, but a sandwich was labled “s” for sausage but it was a blt. But the blt was nice anyway, like the rest of the food.
I really enjoyed it here I can here with school.i enjoyed it apart from the canoeing because I got chased by a rabid swan in Ripon cannal it was scary xx
Excellent facilities and friendly and helpful staff. Took a group of 13 kids and all enjoyed it. Clean and well equipped dorms and excellent catering.
