Stunning examples of some huge trees. Their size and beauty is impressive. Lovely walks round the different areas. The lady on the desk informed us that there were some steep and uneven paths around the gardens. My husband explored those, I stayed on the flat paths. I did however venture up to the Victorian fernery, which was well worth the trek. Good cafe and refreshments too. Well worth a visit and spending a couple of hours here.

Beautiful scenic walks in a beautifully kept botanical garden. Good cafe available. Very much enjoyed the recently opened red squirrel hide, great to see such an iconic species that can be very hard to spot these days. Parking is free, entry to the gardens is easily worth the money.

Endlessly fascinating This is a great place of you like long walks, not all of it is accessible for people with walking difficulties. There are fascinating little nooks like the beautifully restored fernery and orangery. It's well kept and the plants are interesting too. The gardens are arranged into different zones that include Chilean with a wooden hut and new monkey puzzle trees. The garden's are in a fairly remote place, so you'd be best making a whole day of it. Food is okay but basic with limited choices, but you can bring a picnic if you want to. Toilet are near the entrance hut and the converted barn courtyard.

A very picturesque place and great for lovely walks. You would not be disappointed if you go here. There's a shop and cafeteria with toilets.

Beautiful gardens with vibrant colours and fabulous views towards Dunoon on the Cowal Peninsula. Tea room is excellent and the gardens never feel busy. You have enough space to do your own thing. We happened to be there when a string quartet was giving a concert, just lovely music in a magical place
