All just a bit average. We lived in the area for a number of years and adored this place, it breaks my heart to see what it has become. Right now it’s just a really run down restaurant; if not on its last legs then it’s certainty hanging onto the ropes and hoping for the bell. Staff were awesome, friendly and helpful but the food was pretty average and the place is tired to the point of narcolepsy. The piano had gone which should have been a warning sign. Bathrooms were simply unhygienic. No soap, just a bottle of antibacterial hand wash placed on the side and insanely dirty floor. Broken fittings with labels saying “do not touch me” see pics. This place is a Gordon Ramsey Kitchen Nightmares contender in the making.
Had an amazing evening last week in Bengal Clipper. The food was great I am a big curry lover, so I am tough when it comes to the quality. I would say 9 out of 10. Absolutely loved the pianist. She was the first one greeting us with the lovely smile while waiting for the waiter to show us our table. Loved the music she played indeed. Staff were ok, lovely receptionist was very kind to us too. I think all this restaurant needs is a better lighting and a little bit of changing, as I noticed lots of stains on my seat and the tablecloth. Anyway, definitely coming back!
Me and couple of friends went to celebrate my birthday at this restaurant. It was the worse choice I could make going to this restaurant. The whole experience was awful, couldn't have chosen worse than this. I ordered Lamb biryani the portion was small, ordered sag with lentils and it had hair on it and for starters we ordered mixed grill again with the portion being small and bland. I would not rate this restaurant it looks shabby, outdated and smelly. I would not recommend this restaurant to anybody. The service was lousy, because every time I asked them to bring me a glass of coke they say yes, and they forget about it. Some of them didn't understand English this place needs a complete transformation. We were disappointed we even complained and they didn't even apologise they kept on smiling like a dope.
This is my favourite Indian restaurant in London. It has great food and great ambiance. The atmosphere is great as the restaurant is bright, modern, and colourful and slightly more sophisticated than most. The noise level in the restaurant does not get too loud but not super quiet either. I find that many Indian restaurants are small and loud. This isn’t. As a matter of fact, it is huge and on Saturdays there is live piano music. The food is excellent. I love the Chicken Jalfrezi and the spinach with cheese. The prices are also not bad. Whenever my partner and I come here, we spend around £30- 40, and we get two mains, 1 small appetizer, rice and two sides with wine. I think that is decent value. They also have a pre-set menu for 3 courses for £12, which I have yet to try. The only downfall of this place is the service. The staff could work on being a bit more friendly.
I have been here a few times and have enjoyed my meal every time. Staff are friendly and professional, they can't do more for you. Food was enjoyed by all and fair prices. Lots of space in the restaurant so even if busy easy to get a table.
Terrible customer service. We were asked to leave ten minutes after closing time, leaving behind full drinks. This was a Sunday at 4pm. One waiter shouted loudly to the others with the purpose of moving us quickly out of the restaurant. He stood over us whilst we gathered the money for the bill. He then with other staff, loudly mocked our decision not to leave a full 12.5% service charge, as we were unhappy with the service. There are a lot better restaurants in the locality that will appreciate your custom.
We only go there on Sundays not every one, of course because they have great value Sunday only buffet with £8.95 per head. There is always a great choice of meat dishes as well as vegetarian. You can stay as long as you want, they are not constantly asking if everything is OK etc.. No nonsense, good food for a very little money.
Excellent Indian food, served in comfortable surroundings by competent and friendly staff. In the evenings sometimes you'll be accompanied by live piano music. I would recommend this place to anyone.
A typical curry house feel, but not with your totally typical curry house menu. The menu here is one of the most varied that I've seen around London, and the food is delicious. It's a bit pricey, but definitely worth it if you want a really high quality curry with good service and a nice atmosphere.
Good food, friendly service. This place has been on Shad Thames forever. Decent lunch specials. Get there on a Sunday between Noon and 4pm to enjoy their 'All you can eat' buffet.
