I grew up in the marine estate at the top of the hill steps in the 1980s. I knew Belton hills and the steps well, going down to Old Leigh with the dog or to the pubs We visited yesterday by train instead of by car, the route from London has greatly improved. It was lovely to walk up and down the steps, they have been improved too, more stable than they used to be and a groove at the side for cyclists to wheel their bikes up, a great idea. Thank you to those who look after the area, it is beautiful and needs to be protected for wildlife and people.
Lovly walk along the gardens on top of the hills ,great views and lots of beaches to sit and just watch.
It's a series of footpaths, and steps. Mainly designed for access the the C2C train line to London. But you can walk along the top, admiring the seaview. Towards Kent and Canvey Island. Beware of teams of bodies training on the stairs, they are a bit of a nuisance. Dog-friendliness: Plenty of poo bins all along.
This place was recommended by a local and it lived up to my expectations. Friendly staff, great views, good food and nice atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of Souhend. Despite them not having fish and chips on the day!!!!!, other food was lovely and well cooked. But...no F&C ????

Nice views of Leigh , two tree island and canvey.
The most beautiful views of the estuary from this Nature Reserve. Good paths that run parallel and steps take you down to Leigh. A bench always seems to be free to admire the view. Peaceful. Plenty of room to sit on the grass and picnic.
This area is a jewel for recreation and wildlife, with fantastic world-class views across the Thames estuary .
Love this part of our dog walk.
