Great golf club and hotel, a course for all skill levels if not taken too seriously . Stayed the night as per a deal , very cheap including a round of golf in price. Food was really nice and service was good, breakfast also included in tge price , which was amazing. Definitely stay here again, probably make it a regular thing as only 45 min drive from our house. Great for a relaxing evening but could maybe do something entertainment wise or a jukebox, Only thing us some of the rooms are dated and could do with updating but staff were lovely.
I'm not a golfer so I can't comment on that bit. We did two nights on a Wowcher deal. The room was very small in a wooden annex at the end of a long corridor. It was warm and clean. The wall paper was coming off the walls and it could have done with a fresh coat of emulsion. The bathroom door wouldn't close from the outside. The club house, restaurant and bar was very spacious and modern, a really nice place to be. Our evening meals that were included in the deal from a set menu weren't much to get excited about. I definitely wouldn't pay the £25 a head for them quoted on the menu. In all it was a nice place but I won't be going back.
Superb! I booked a golf trip for 12 players including me. Our package included 2 rounds of golf, dinner bed and breakfast at an unbelievably good price. Not one member of our group had anything negative to say about the whole trip. Staff were all lovely, food was exceptional, Golf was tough because the weather but the course was great. We will definitely be going again!
Staff are very friendly. Rooms are of varying quality. I'd guess the downstairs rooms are older, they certainly look more dated - wood chip wallpaper was peeling from the one I was in. Upstairs rooms have a more contemporary feel and there's no wallpaper. Sound travels between rooms rather more freely than you'd hope, but given the location, most residents are early to bed and early to rise. The food is excellent and very reasonably priced given the country club status. Bar service was always quick and polite. A little modernisation in otherwise dated rooms and this is 4 stars for me.
Stayed on a Travelzoo deal . The dinner was very nice, breakfast lovely ! What let it down is the quality of the rooms. We stayed for one night and the room was basic at best- like a $25 US motel room - certainly WAY below a Premier Inn type quality, Floorboards so squeaky sounds like people coming in your room. Walls so thin so idiots next door listening to TV at 2 am means you can’t sleep. Receptionist didn’t even speak unless you spoke to her first. If I owned the restaurant I would disown the hotel ! Like two different establishments - restaurant welcoming, good quality clean and modern- hotel unwelcoming, clean and old fashioned and poor quality .
Nice welcome and clean hotel. Although without going into detail we ran into issues with a vapour being found by a small child, TV not working and the shower not working and having to use a shower in a different room. They agreed a refund however never provided this hence the 1*. Despite calling several times staff had no idea of the refund and have never called me back despite saying they would. I therefore cannot recommend this hotel.
Hotel and staff were excellent but prices of soft and alcoholic drinks very expensive. Food was very good. However the Golf course needs a lot of TLC. Greens were poor and pin positions had not been changed for a while. Most were crowned and seriously affected putting. A lot of areas looked worn and should have marked GUR. I appreciate that the course gets a lot of use and the dry weather does have an effect but a bit of work would improve the course no end.
Overnight stay. Room was small but clean and comfortable. Staff wonderful, couldn't be more helpful. Food excellent value and nicely served. We would definitely stay again and recommend to others.Rooms: 3/5
To be honest the food was excellent, but a one star rating is for a couple of people vaping in the TV section of the clubhouse were we were eating a meal. I believe that they were off duty staff. Date of visit 19/02/2023 Food & drinks: The food we ordered was good, although the dates were missing from the salad
We stayed overnight on a Travelzoo voucher. The food was superb both at lunchtime and in the evening. The staff were all friendly and helpful, especially Aaron. Our room was clean, well appointed if a little tired, but they are in the process of updating them.
