Lovely Sunday Roast on our visit, lovely atmosphere, great food and friendly staff. Having a Beefeater loyalty card we get to treat ourselves now and again.
We visited on a busy Saturday night, upon entry it was made clear that the restaurant was full but we could order and eat in the bar area. Overall it was a nice experience, staff were friendly and attentive, bar area was somewhat sterile and has an active pool table so be aware of this. Food arrived quickly, was warm and decent quality. Portion size was very good, we had no room for desert! Prices are fairly standard, lots of parking and easy to get to. Just a bit run of the mill, was tempted to rate 4 star but maybe another time.
First time visit as I was in the area at the time, the service was unprofessional, chefs in the kitchen food quality was average but served hot, chefs wearing dirty uniform and rings and piercings when cooking the food, no basic hygiene observed. The waitresses were under pressure and the whole place not organised, dead environment won’t be returning unfortunately..
Have used this restaurant for many years. The staff that used to be here were excellent. The food was good. Never any complaints at all. Visited for the first time time since lockdown and my word things have changed dramatically. The seasoned middle aged women have been replaced by youngsters with poor life skills. The excuses tendered for items that were not available were laughable. You should receive exactly what is described on the menu with nothing missing. We ate off the daytime menu but were presented with an inflated bill which included prices from the full menu. No apologies made whatsoever. Not visiting again.
Been going here a long time off and on. Every time there has been some issue but this was the final straw. Served by a truly delightful waitress in a near empty restaurant. She even read our order back for us at the kitchen counter to ensure it was correct 2 starters and 2 mains, all good so far. Waited ages for food, mains came via another server waitress finished her shift, we pointed out that we hadn't had the starters! Apologies and offered free drinks while they were made. I insisted we have freshly cooked burgers instead of what we were given. Starters arrived....mains followed. One burger had the extra topping meant for husbands burger. Mine, on husbands plate came with sauce l said l can't eat and missing pineapple. My burger taken from husband. Left only with his bowl of cheesy chips. His burger left on my plate with my fries. Had to ask for a plate so his burger could be transferred and eaten. Server checked if l wanted salad on burger. Yes please. Burger arrived. No salad inside, overcooked to the point of cremated, tough and cold. I believe this burger was not freshly cooked. Server asked if everything was ok. No.... and had to explain what was wrong again with this order. Twice the guy who continued serving us tried to blame the waitress for getting it wrong and being flustered, which she was not, on any occasion. In fact she was extremely nice and efficient. We told him to stop trying to blame others. No we didn't pay, but not the point. Made sure it was clear that we would not return, ever. Place has gone seriously downhill.
Popped in here for an early lunch one Thursday. Ordered my rump steak 'medium rare' but what arrived could've been ridden into Southampton if I'd had a saddle handy??? The only redeeming part of this visit was the staff member that served us, Tracey, she was amazing. Really polite, effecient and attentive, and the only reason I'd revisit this old building which could do with a refurbishment. If the manager reads this, please give her a pay rise straight away and Thank her again for her top service, it would've been 3 Stars if it hadn't been for her!
For the second year we have had a great experience holding our work Christmas meal at the Hut , Chandlers Ford . Great night and food . Worked well and we weren't asked to leave unlike other venues we've reserved tables at! Glad you've survived the difficult times we've all endured . Loved the cocktails. Well doneFood: 5/5
I went for a very special birthday treat for us we had to wait a long time to get served the drink too wrong didn't have the right food food with cold and the meantime have for us three of us have been very badly ill with stomach bug doctor says it may be food poisoning so I definitely wouldn't recommend coming to this dump. And watch the bar manage out for a beer split and use the different glass but never wiped it with a tea towel and nothing hygiene was very bad so I definitely would not go it unless you want to de very unwell. Thank you for your time and service.
Visited Christmas day family of 14 . Very busy...just a couple of hiccups ,late for sitting down at table by 25 minutes and gravy and cranberry arrived halfway through the meal. Food really good and waiting staff seemed overstretched. The atmosphere was lovely and everyone enjoyed it. Will visit again when a bit quieter.
Worst meal I’ve had in years. So I went for a friend’s birthday and was asked to pre order to make sure there have staff available and to make sure the food is available. That did not happen there was only two staff working the bar and restaurant and it wasn’t because of not having staff available I over herd one saying isn’t so and so working today the others replied no I have her the day off. The service was slow and I struggled to find staff to ask for drinks or some sauces there was twice I did see any staff on the floor or at the bar. The food was warm at best and didn’t taste nice. They gave coleslaw to a egg allergy and when he asked them to change it they put the rest of on a new plate and luckily she noticed there was mayo from the coleslaw still on the chicken as it might of been a real problem. I can go on and on about how bad that place is but I’ll leave it here.
