Had i been able to give a minus i would. I contact the council for help on a matter, not only are they not being helpful but also threaten that if i do not follow through with the exact guidence they tell me to i will suffer repercussions what a disgusting bunch the entire government is helpless and in shambles
Spoke to a lovely lady called marja who works within the waste recyling and waste permit department at Bedford council. This lady was beyond helpful very polite sincere, the sort of person you want to speak to on the phone. She is by far the friendliest person I've ever spoke to within the council. Bedford Borough council in the old country Hall building on cauldwell St with a customer service building in the old town hall in St Pauls square much of the office is administration and record's for the borough and mayor of the town. with the council chamber for meeting's ect a small BBC radio studio also within the building.
The top floor is missing, and that's just the staff, the building is also missing a roof.
Awful, rude staff, sent me other people's personal documents, refuse any backdating of claims and try their best to take all your money. No decent investment into anything and I've had to take them to court before won my case no apologies from them for the upset they caused.
Extremely abusive officer from building control who was threatening me in my home for non compliance when all inwas doingwas tryingtomeet regulations. Despite my dping everything for the last 10 weeks to meet their requirements which change and contradict on a daily basis. The officer refuses or is not capable of giving clear instruction. When asked the department how to raise a formal complaint, it was investigated between 6pm and 845 am the next morning and closed I was not even asked what the complaint was, The department manager threatened me with court summons. All i have attempted to be is complaint. He shouted that i shouldn't have even asked for regularisation! I guess i will now be persecuted because i dared to call his professional standards into question. Did you know you can avoid the Council and use a private contractor? Or, do as building control shouted at me, dont involve them! Utter joke and all they do is encourage bad quality of work rather than meet safety regulations.
Probably the worst council area I have ever had the misfortune to live in. Poor services offered to residents with no accountability for wrong decisions or lack of actions. Very woke and appear to only care about generating revenue by handing out enforcement notices to people using the town centre, which has killed off many businesses as folk go to nearby towns that are cleaner and more friendly towards shoppers. A bunch of faceless petty bureaucrats all worried about making the wrong decision and loosing their jobs, so they simply don’t make decisions. The villages covered by the council are simply left to fend for themselves and receive very little support in the way of services apart from bin collection.
Absolutely disgusting I’m fleeing domestic violence and nobody cares I’ve been trying to call them for two weeks been on the phone also all day from 9.am this morning until now the time is currently 11.30.I just keep getting off of the phone constantly . The automated phone says my position is either 3 or 4 all the time no other number just those to you get to the position 1 where they tell you your next then you get cut off without fail every time and I’m calling from two different numbers at the same time the same thing keeps on happening so no help or nothing I’m just left !!!
Just wanted to share the terrible experience I've had with one of the most respected institutions in the UK. I have changed addresses in July so i notified them on that exact same day as it is requested and I've been told the changes will be made and i will be issued a bill for my new address for my council tax. After more than a week a bill was issued in my name but was for the wrong flat i gave them a call as the amount was ridiculously high the advisor said is definitely not for my flat so i shouldn't worry and wait for the right one. I said ok and waited for my next bill. The next bill was issued weeks after without the single person discount which i have requested initially. I called up again and said the bill is wrong as the discount was not applied and was advised again to go online and complete the single person discount form baring in mind nobody said anything about me needing to complete a form in the first place. So i went completed the form and waited for another week or so had no bill issued so i called up again. They said they haven't received the form even though i have the proof the form was submitted successfully so they advised me to wait for the form to be posted to me and drop it back off to bedford borough council. Waited more than a week for the form once it arrived i filled in the form and dropped it back. Meanwhile the council is sending me a letter that i have to go Luton and attend a court hearing and then this month while waiting for my bill was sent a letter threatening me that an agent will collect my possessions as i have an outstanding amount of £900 to pay. If you do simple math and divide that £900 by 5 months since i moved there and had no right bill issued it will come up to £180/month which by the way is wrong as i live in a band A area and according to your own website my tax with single person discount should reach around £100/month. Leaving all this aside once i had the letter threatening to take my possessions called the council and the advisor said i'm owing a huge amount of money and even if the bill wasn't issued i ''could've paid some money at least'' , no offence this is not the corner shop to give money like that without having the right bill and explaining exactly how much i'm paying and why , after that he told me i'm better off paying over the phone £400 , people do not have money hanging around like that to pay for your mistakes as obviously the institution is not capable of giving the right bills to their customers but really quick to react when the money are not being paid. The court hearing took place and i din't attended as i was working whoever was there obviously didn't even mention that no bill was issued to my address in the first place. So my question is: how do you pay without even knowing how much you have to pay? the comment i received that '' i could've at least paid some money'' is totally unprofessional as this is a serious matter if i don't pay the council i will go to jail so if the staff could at least do their job with the same excitement they send letters threatening you instead of just sending the correct bill so i can pay for it then i'm not sure how serious we as citizens should take your institution. When you call the staff they are rather irritated that you called to complain which is completely unacceptable. I now have an outstanding balance of £900 which apparently I have to pay before the end of the tax year which is in 3 months purely because they weren't able to do their job and purely because i only followed their instructions if someone would've said before i can pay some money without the bill i would've done it but nobody said that until i had £900 outstanding. If this is the way you provide service for people that work legally and pay their bills on time i Think you need to review a few things this is outrageous and unprofessional is an understatement. Next step i will seek legal advice and see what my options are i am not gonna let this go away as i haven't done nothing to put myself in this situation. Go learn how to do your jobs
Re: Clapham rd/Manton lane and Ampthill rd How many years is it now? Let's have a public enquiry into why it's been allowed to take so long and exactly who is benefiting financially from this fiasco. The workforce must be congratulated on their ability to do so little in such a long time ,you are a disgrace . A response from this dept would make interesting reading.
