When I first tried Ernie's, I fell in love. Their curry sauce is the main star for me and to why I'll pick no other. Generous portions, great price and fast service. However it's becoming more likely that there is always an issue with the batter on the fish. I don't know if it's just me but I do not like undercooked batter and won't eat it. Maybe it's batter that hasn't been whisked well enough. However my visits were once a week and now it's gone down to once a month because that curry sauce is divine. If that curry didn't exist, I don't think I'd be a customer there anymore. The service could be a little friendlier too

Still on the lookout for a nicely cooked fresh piece of fish in the chippies in and around Grimsby .nTried here today - very nice smell coming from inside , ordered haddock and chipsnLike the other recent  review has mentioned - nice chips , but the batter on the fish really let's it downnMy fish was mushy , over cooked , the batter was like consistency of a doughnut - too thick, very dry. The fish hadn't been turned on equal sides as bottom was rock hard .

Nice place close to the train station.  Quick service.  A regular chips was £3, which was a bit too big for me.  I didn't finish them all.

Went in for some food before football. Being an away supporter we were welcombed by the friendly staff who joined in banter and took our orders in quick time.nI had chips and scraps and these were the best chips I have eaten on any away game around the country.nFresh and hot and although I purchased a small portion, it was too much for me to eat them all.nOthers both local and football fans were served promptly and with fresh local produce. If we are to return to Cleethorpes, this is the place for fresh quality food.
