It's so wonderful to see an old Manor having new life breathed into it. The house itself is mostly not available for roaming around, but if you want to get involved in any of the myriad events, activities and classes that take place there, you'll get to see a bit more of the place. The downstairs is, I believe, fully wheelchair accessible. You get to see the fabulous entrance hall with its glass domed roof, marble fireplace and amazing screen-printed 'chandelier' as well as the florally festooned gallery above. There are two further rooms that are open, both with splendid views over the parkland. The grounds are immense with a ubiquitous golf course sprawling in almost every direction. Mind you, the best thing is that there are not usually too many golfers there so the bunkers make for fabulous sandpits for kids to play in. It's a splendid place for dog-walkers, though I do wish people would pick up all of the poo. There ARE dog waste bins on some of the paths, so it's not hard to dispose of the stuff! Grrrr! The Park is also on several of the London Walking routes, and with all the beautiful trees, open spaces, walled gardens, herb gardens, tennis courts, straw bale garden and a lake or two there's loads to explore. There's also major restoration works going on in the cottages and the house itself, so I'm looking forward to seeing how it all progresses. If it's wildlife you're after, you'll not be disappointed, there are plenty of birds, insects, squirrels, rabbits, foxes and possibly a badger or two to keep you occupied, as well as the myriad dogs and their families... But if you expect a tranquil stroll, you might be sorely disappointed, for there is a growing Chattering of Parakeets in the park, though personally I enjoy their squeaky-toy nattering and their company through the woodlands.

It is a hidden gem, but a massive one! Lovely parkland, including woodland walks and golf course. (although Lewisham Council have plans to turn the golf course back into parkland). Cafe could do with renovation. Car parking available.

Love this park, great community vibe, local art and crafts, local food and the rolling hills of the countryside combined with pretty flower gardens and community vegetable growing. Take my daughter there regularly it’s our favorite spot.

Beautiful park, lots to explore and enjoy with children and your furry friends (no I don't mean the homeless guy who loiters near the station). Sad that the golf course was shut, but the positives are you can explore more easily without the fear of being knocked out. The house is open through the week with clean toilet facilities. There is lots of parking for family visits/picnics.

Great place to walk the dog a swim in the river even got him nice and clean at the end!! Nice snack and hot drink in the dog friendly cafe unfortunately our dog was disappointed because the cafe doesn't do sausages (high elms country park cooks good quality sausages which you can buy for £1 to treat your dog) the corner af a bacon sandwich is not quite the same. The cafe uses disposable cups and plates but you can save 10p and help the environment if you bring your own reusable cup.
