Super friendly and helpful service right from the beginning. A great evening meal and very helpful and friendly service in the restaurant area, also. The young lady who served us was a star. We were here during the heatwave, so the room, despite being really nice, was like an oven through the night which is something I guess this and other hotels will need to adapt for in future summers as the temperatures are increasing. A room fan did help a little, but a bigger solution will be needed. But generally, a really nice overall experience.
Had a great experience dining here this evening! Went out for a last minute meal with my sister and parents and was impressed from the start. We had to change our original booking from 3 people to 4 which was no trouble for the staff at all. Our waitress a young red haired lady was friendly, well mannered and professional. To top things off we were all very satisfied with our meals and the service. For the price I had one of the best burgers I have ever had and highly recommend the Bear to anyone. We will definitely be going back.
Large, spacious room with an enormous bed, clean, white bedding and towels. Very warm and a lovely, large bathroom. Carpets look tired but it was clean. The breakfasts were large and very tasty with lots of choice. The evening meals are extremely good and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Excellent food, excellent staff very polite and welcoming and polite. The manager is very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Would highly recommend we have been there for large family Sunday Lunch. Breakfast food is always hot and above all else very tasty and good value for money especially during this very difficult times prices have been kept to what i would say is affordable. Looking forward to Christmas lunch as well. It is good to support local business. Overall excellence
Great staff , great food and the manager Ben is Super Helpful and clearly this has rubbed off on the staff who are also Super Helful , from Check in who had only just joined to Ryan on the bar , we were made to feel welcome. The company however needs to spend some money on the property, carpets are approaching dangerous and the rooms need upgrades, this is a beautiful pub with great staff let down by a huge lack of investment! We would pay more for it if the quality of the building was improved
We had our wedding reception here on Friday 20/01/2023 and it was AMAZING! Ben, Jayne and the team all went above and beyond and made our day so special, the bear has always had a special meaning to us so it was important to us to have our day here and it didn’t disappoint when I say nothing was to much trouble i truly mean it, all staff was friendly and welcoming and Ben and Jayne was beyond accommodating, they work so well as a team! And are such genuine lovely people, I’m not very good at writing reviews but bottom line we HIGHLY recommend the bear and will be regular guests! We can’t wait to come back and see everyone thank you for Everything you all done for us. Mr and Mrs Lewis x
Lovely, welcoming and friendly and that's just what I got from the barman- Ryan. Good location and easily accessible. We had a great lunch which was very tasty. Reasonably priced, we were impressed. We'll be going back.
Absolutely lovely, cozy little inn. The service was top-notch, New Years Eve was a blast, the beds were quiet and the rooms silent. Terrific food in their restaurant, it was hard to leave!
Stayed at hotel for one night after a party. great staff, nice room only bad thing was hearing the boiler all night so I didn't get allot of sleep and woke with headacheRooms: 4/5
Christmas party innthe bear hotel, didnt stay over so not rated the rooms. Lots of onsite parking. Great atmosphere and the buffet was 2nd to none Nearby activities: Good quantity of shops on the doorstep, a wetherspoons and a couple of pubs. Walkability: Near train station and the bus station under 5 minutes walk
