What a brilliantly dated throw back to times past. The ales are brewed onsite and are awesome. SARAH HUGHES ales. There are also a few ciders as well as other drinks available from 1 of three serving hatches that you will have to bend down to order from. There are also guest Ales as well as other drinks available. There are a few rooms to be seated in as well as a large outside area too. All offering a glimpse into decor of years gone by. The inside of this amazing pub needs to be seen to be believed, looking from the outside it you ain't gonna believe what will behold you on the inside. Absolutely an ale drinkers paradise and should also be visited by anyone who enjoys a great old fashioned pub. Highly highly recommended to all.
Absolutely legendary Sarah Hughes Ruby Mild fresh on cask. Delicious malty and well worth the detour to get here. Cheese and onion cob and a comfy seat in the fab smoking room. Had a chat with a friendly local. Perfect.
A great, old-fashioned in a good way pub. The serving hatch is a real throwback to past times, and the front room, where I sat, was very comfortable - even given that my visit was at around noon on a Monday.
What a lovely way to enjoy excellent beer, us older ones reminiscing on the pubs now gone or bit by bit spoilt by progress, that reminds me 'unspoiled by progrees' never transferred to the pubs themselves, this place however, if changed, has done it very tastefully or subtly. Excellent
Excellent pub. Great atmosphere. One of a kind ales. Fair pricing. Plus, it's always nice to drink out the old-fashioned handled glasses
The home of Sarah Hughes ales in a truly excellent traditional Victorian pub All bars served by the original serving hatches in the middle good tasting beers with excellent staff Well maintained all over with good sized car park Check opening times before as operate old style opening times VISIT
Amazing relic of times past. Small brewery with attached pub. Pub is old, small with many rooms all served through hatches from central servery. Nice garden too.. Headline ale is Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby Mild and there are some lighter offerings too. Strongly recommended for a visit, by bus.
Best beer, place and real pub atmosphere of days gone by..
Gr8 pub. Fantastic beers. Very popular so very full on a Sunday dinner. Little disappointed the beer garden was shut but found somewhere 2dit eventually
What a great experience. Will be going again and again etc
