Story

The Canal Centre at Mytchett is the perfect place to start exploring the canal.

Our building houses an information area, small gift shop, toilets and a function room (available for hire). Outside is a children's 'trailblazer' play area, plus a picnic area with benches.

There is also a separate canal cafe.

Boat hire (canoes, sit on top kayaks, pedalos and row boats) available Easter to end of Sept (weekends and school holidays only - subject to the weather.)
Boat trips weekends (plus Wednesday, Fridays & Bank Holidays during school holidays.)

We also have a campsite which is open April to October (weather permitting) for short stay tents, motor homes and caravans. Please note that we have limited facilities and do not have any electric hook-up. We also have a yurt for hire.

There is plenty of free parking and the towpath is easily accessible from the Canal Centre via the swing bridge.

Very nice simple camping. Great if you have a motorhome, water tap on side of field easy to drive up to and fill up tanks. Great area for walking dog off lead either on the canal towpath or the huge adjoining pine Forest. Will be going back again. It is worth noting that the campsite closes end of October, however if you have a motorhome they will let you stay overnight in the car park, you still have to pay the camping fee but it is still very convient for a winter stopover.

For the price, it was great fun, back to basics. Son said he liked it. But missed WiFi.

Beautiful waterway walk, especially when you remember that you are walking next to the A331, 1000 feet or less away! How these magical places keep their charm, right in the middle of bustling urban life, is always amazing!

If you love water and nature this is a lovely spot to visit. You can camp on site. Have a canal trip on one of the boats at the centre. There's a cafe children's play area, toilets, showers and disabled access and toilet. The canal centre is very informative of the area and history of the canal. If you enjoy walking or cycling the woods are right on the doorstep. So plenty for all the family whether you are active, sporty or just enjoy relaxing by water.

Really lovely to visit. Free parking, nice little café, good walks from there. Café closes stupidly early and the barriers close quite early too, so check beforehand.
