Not a very inviting/welcoming station. The entrance looks old and unloved, it really needs to be refurbished.nnThe attitude of the staff employed to manage the ticket gates also leaves a lot to be desired. They seem to treat everyone with suspicion, even when passengers are able to produce a valid ticket. On more than one occasion I’ve challenged them over their conduct and the way they treat customers.
It is 08:00 on the 27th of August 2019.nHuge tickets queues outside the station!!! Why? Not enough ticket machines and staff available. It takes you between 30 to 40 min to purchase your travel ticket!nnAnother day the 14th of October. Two tills open, two machines working, but still waiting for 20 min to buy an expensive ticket!
The staff here are very friendly and have a good positive vibe emanating from their presences.
I can use my visa to check in from “lime house” but not to check out from this station “Basildon”.nnThen a staff here made me pay a ticket to the other direction from “Basildon” to “Upminster” in order to check out at “Basildon”.nnThey just want to double charge people.
Absolutely loved the swarm of ticket checkers this morning, insisting to people they must pay the full ticket amount, yet I’m currently sat here waiting for my LATE train. Maybe provide a full service before asking for full fares? Maybe make your tickets accessible rather than having no-one working on the booth and only one machine working during rush hour?
