This area is fantastic for hiking all year round with some of the best views locally.  Great for sledging in the snow and the springs are a smash with the little ones! They love splashing about and scaling the slopes.  The climbs are fairly easy too so even my 2 year old was able to climb full steam straight up the sides of the peaks.
