Lovely meal here with the family as a party of 10. Everyone enjoyed their food and we had a wide range between us. The fig and goats cheese tart I had to start was delicious and clearly well thought out. Couldn't improve on it. The ravioli part of my main was very tasty, but the golden beetroot accompaniment to the ravioli didn't work for me. There was too much of it alongside the ravioli and it was very hard. I found it unpalatable, and I love beetroot. My partner had the three meat roast, which came suspiciously drowning in gravy. Much better to serve the gravy on the side and let people choose how much they have.
Lovely pub by the river with nice food, beer and wine. The inside is very nice, but the garden is even better. The thatched building is amazing too. Now this pub should take over the campsite next door. We use to either paddle the Thames and camp there or come in our campervan and stay over. Would always visit this pub.
Beautiful historic pub, the kind of place you bring friends to impress. The chocolate box thatched roof makes it memorable alongside its location close to Thames river. The food is good with healthy choices that are reasonable priced. We arrived on a cold and rainy Wednesday and warmed up with soup and a delicious open flatbread sandwitch. The service is welcoming and friendly and we will come back again to enjoy a sunny day in their beautiful garden.
We came here for a simple lunch, but ended up having a proper meal. We ordered their shared starter for two, it was lovely. I went on to Seabass and seared scallops on white wine risotto. It was superb! My companion ordered beef pancetta &red wine lasagne, which was richly flavoured. This is a quant pub with a modern menu and a tranquil garden by a busy road. Will definitely come back again try their steaks or grills.
Lovely pub great atmosphere and impressive food. I had the mix grill which was good but my wife’s pie was really good. Great flavour and defiantly what I’d get myself next time. Lovely homely fire place and beautiful my decorated for Christmas Friendly service and very attentive
I had two choices...get up some ridiculous time to drive to Oxford or leave London the night before, and stay in the countryside, or visit a a beautiful Thatched Inn selling the most delicious food. I chose to escape early before Friday traffic chaos kicked in. I am staying nearby in a country B&B, so headed out into the autumn air and wandered by the river to find this gem of a place. I arrived during a quiet period, lost in thought, seduced by the menu and had a warm welcome staff are efficient and friendly. The food was delicious followed by pots of earl grey tea, and a bakewell tart, that l had to smother in warm creamy custard. I had such a pleasant time, l think it is a must place to visit if you are nearby. If by car there is a car park opposite. Be warned its a busy road!
Service was top notch. Greeted on arrival and prompt service. Varied menu and good choice of specials, although please include a vegetarian special. Only disappointed was the mocha torte dessert which didn't have raspberries on it.
We headed out for dinner to celebrate my youngest son’s birthday and my oldest son’s GCSE results. Sue who served us was amazing. Clearly a busy evening had her moving like she had roller blades on. Fast, efficient and friendly. There was a bit of a wait for food, as we understood it, the kitchen was under a lot of pressure. Anything we needed Sue wasn’t far and soon rectified it for us! Then came out our puddings and a lovely surprise for my son’s birthday! The staff broke out in song along with some guests and my sons face lit up! How lovely, even though they were so so busy, they still took the time to make it extra special.
This is a really nice pub with lovely food and a traditional atmosphere. The staff are great, friendly, helpful and just attentive enough for a good meal. In Febrary there were some real fires which enhanced our visit. Colouring-in menus and a couple of crayons were provided for children.
Had not been for a number of years. Thought we would give it a try. My starter was good, however from there unfortunately that was as good as it got. The bottom of the pie was hard, veg over cooked, however pepper sauce on the steak was good. Unfortunately hit and miss and on this occasion it would be a miss. In and out in about 65 minutes. Unfortunate.
