Truly one of the worst banks i’ve been to in a while. I had every intention of setting up my first credit account with this bank due to reviews but when i arrived to set up in person, I will now never give Barclays my business or time again. The bank was very quiet when we went in yet still had incredibly slow service? The lady at the desk didn’t even greet us and asked why we were here and we told her we wanted to set up a credit card with them. If anything this made her more rude towards us as if it was an inconvenience to her - i personally thought someone coming in to set up a new account is a good thing? Apparently not. She then told us to sit and wait for half an hour until someone would call us over to help us. She gave no guidance or anything and simply just wanted us to wait instead. Bare in mind this was not at peak times and we ended up waiting for just under an hour before we gave up waiting and left. There was no sense of urgency from anyone working there and I think their system is to have you wait aslong as possible so they don’t have to do their job. In conclusion, terrible customer service, terrible attitude and terrible wait time. Don’t waste your time going into this branch
Constantly lacking in staff often wait in excess of 30 minutes to collect change that has been pre-ordered via a phone line. The queue is always large with only one person working on the counter, Whilst another member of staff try’s to encourage people to use the machines. This clearly doesn’t work as most people still need to queue for the counter. Please consider putting two people on the counter.
Utterly unbelievable customer service - even with 3 people in the branch doing doing at all, I am still told to go away and make an appointment in 6 weeks time to open an account What has happened to UK banks where they believe they can treat the public with such lack of respect and service
Been going here for months to do banking for grandparents because of coronavirus, and its the worst bank ive ever been in. Have to queue for 30-40+ mins EVERY time to do a transaction that literally takes 30secs because there is only ever 1 person on the counter even though they've reduced the counter opening hours. Always another staff that asks me to use the self service machine knowing i cant because its not my bank and i always complain about the wait but nothing ever gets done. Rude & lazy staff, poor management, always long queues, stupid opening hours. WORST BANK IN ENGLAND.
First time going into this branch there was only one staff member that spent more time trying to find the other staff. 30mins later he turned up and immediately got aggressive towards the other staff member for asking where he's been. Appalling behavior in front of customers. really glad the branches in York don't behave like this.
Awful customer service, every time I go in. I am treasurer for a community bank account thankfully I don't bank with Barclays personally and whenever I go in to pay money into the account the queue is very long and slow moving. Today they had seven Barclays employees stood around the main desk and only one cash desk working. After waiting about 15 mins I received no acknowledgment or apology for the delay. The staff seem completely disengaged and had no knowledge when I asked a question about directing something at head office. Just hopeless all round! Very pleased that I personally use other banks who provide a far and away better customer service.
Woman on door was rude and unprofessional today. Told us we had to book appointment when it doesn't say anywhere that you have to and was told on the phone just to go in.. Luckily the lad at the counter was curtious and professional.will be closing the account soon. This woman shouldn't be managing putting the sign out let alone meeting and greeting. Back to customer service school for her.
Yet again, I found myself standing in a long queue at this branch where I have banked for over 30 years! Customers in the queue all complaining about one, yes, just one counter staff against. GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER BARCLAYS HARROGATE!!! Stop firing staff and expecting the ATMS and online banking to replace them! I’m moving my account to a building society that has at least 5 counter staff on duty all day long!!! I’m so over your APPALLING service and can’t believe I’ve waited so long to leave you!!!
Customer service?????? We recently attempted to set up a joint account online with no problems but received a letter from Barclays asking us to pop into branch with some identification where a member of staff would help with our application, mentioning to just pop in. Arrived at the branch and were greeted by a very helpful young gentleman who asked if he could help, after explaining he did say it was very busy and asked if we didn't mind waiting. At this point the service was good. However, after the gentleman who had explained our query to a female member of staff she came over to us and advised that we should have made an appointment, to which was not mentioned in the letter, but we went with it and we went into the meeting room. Though this member of staff does need to work on the smiling to be more welcoming. This is where the shocking customer service comes into place, instantly told that it is impossible to help with our enquiry today and we need to make an appointment, she then ask who we bank with so I explain that I we are just looking for a joint account for bills and the BARCLAYS staff member bluntly asks why we want an account with them and not our current banks.... So our business is not needed, we will not be completing the forms and their customer service is miles behind competitors Lloyds & Santander.
I recently went to Barclays to find an account I opened 12 months prior had been closed due to inactivity. Fine, I'm happy to accept that there are rules etc. Upon finding this information out the young lad on the front desk told me I would have to return at a later date to have an assessment for re-opening my account. The way in which he managed this situation was terrible. He was rude, blunt and not at all accommodating. He made me feel completely unvalued and if he had been trained better or simply had more empathy he would have kept my business. I walked across the road to Yorkshire bank and asked the same question and within 20 mins I had my new account set up with a smile and I was delighted.
