Barclays Bank in Shrewsbury is just awful! They now have a board with some rubbish about doing their utmost to satisfy the customer. It always feels that there is nobody managing the branch and as a consequence, we are forced to deal with the inept and often rude staff, that work there. Thankfully, I bank at Lloyds too in Shrewsbury. Friendly customer service and help are still available there,
The system of having one person taking your name to put you on the "list" is a joke, i spent so long waiting i had to leave! It's a shambles!

Absolutely disgraceful way to treat a deaf person in branch today. The assistant was told beforehand. She didn't even lower her dark coloured mask. My mother lip reads! Same person also told us take a seat. Said someone else will deal with mum's issue. They came over, refused and said the same woman again would help mum. She knew and then chose to see to another customer first who arrived much later than us. I expected better from a reputable bank. I will not be changing my own accounts to them now.
My husband dealt with Dione who was most helpful, polite and professional. He is an excellent ambassador for Barclays.
If I could give 0 stars I would. Tired of complaining of various issues to head office as nothing is ever solved. I joined Barclays in another branch in a bigger city and the staff never changed there and customer service was ace. Shrewsbury, being rich market town would benefit from a good branch of Barclays. It is virtually impossible, unless you wish to wait a long time, to speak to an advisor. So I planned ahead and made an appointment for today on the phone, already you can tell this must have taken me a while. Arrived at the branch, rushed in the rain, had all necessary documents. I waited 25 minutes over my appt time only to see 3 members of staff to have a little chat in the corner. Eventually the lady who was in charge of appointments came over it was only us and another gentleman waiting to say that the person I was scheduled to see is running behind with appointments and I will have to come back NEXT WEEK to be seen as my appointment will take 1.5h so they won't afford to see me today. I said I don't mind who we see as there were more advisors. May I add I am a customer and purpose of my visit was to open an account for my partner and we had everything we needed with us in terms of proof/docs. I said no thanks we can take our business to another high street bank. You are focusing so hard on saving on staff, you constantly have new inexperienced young staff at this branch and the standards are really slipping. Maybe you should visit one of the big city branches to see how to treat customers. You have plenty of competition around who are more interested in looking after customers not just directing people to the machine all day.
Extremely rude and hostile woman on the customer service desk. Definitely avoid.
A bank that clearly doesn't care about their customers and just making life as easy as possible for them selves. 1 person serving, queue is massive. No where to park. Staff chatting and not helping. Awful experience. Why is everything so hard for these people. Staff are not serving just wondering around with pads in their hands asking to help but unable to offer it.
Terrible customer service, every time you go in, endless queues, one person on till, rest of the staff just wondering around! All Barclays care about is making life easy for them, not interested in there customers at all!
Good bank with convenient opening tones and helpful staff. The staff always go the extra mile and are keen to help. Like all banks they have teduced the number of tellers and replaced with easy to use machines which I prefer.
