I visited the Bromley branch today with the intention of paying money in. Unfortunately, my experience was marred by an encounter with an older lady who served me in an extremely rude manner. Her condescending tone and unnecessary explanation of the correct procedures left me feeling disheartened and disappointed. Upon realising that I had queued up in the wrong line, I expected a simple redirection to the appropriate area. However, the older lady took it upon herself to not only point out my mistake but also explain, in a patronizing manner, where the correct machines were located and how to use them. This interaction felt entirely unprofessional and unwarranted, considering it was an honest mistake on my part. As a customer, I believe it is essential to be treated with respect and understanding, especially when making a genuine error. The older lady's tone and demeanor conveyed a lack of empathy and a disregard for customer service. Her approach left me feeling embarrassed and belittled, which is not the kind of experience one expects when dealing with a reputable bank. While I understand that employees may encounter frustrating situations, it is crucial for them to maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times. Mistakes happen, and it is the responsibility of the staff to handle them with grace and understanding. Unfortunately, this particular encounter fell far short of those expectations. I hope that Barclays Bank takes this feedback seriously and addresses the issue appropriately. It is essential for the bank to ensure that all their employees are trained to provide exceptional customer service, regardless of the circumstances. No customer should be made to feel inferior or humiliated due to a simple mistake.
Tried to open an account online, asked to come to branch and there is nothing they can help with as they don’t have enough staff. This is by far the most useless bank I’ve ever used. Safe to say they can put their services wherever they want, but I’ll certainly stay as away from these thieves as possible. The only thing that seems to be nice is when you call the premier customer service line… everything else is just awful. You don’t have facilities suitable for all your customers and it seems utterly insane that you ask customers to visit your branches when your services there are nearly non existent. Couple to the fact that you’ve closed the Beckenham branch and opened it inside a swimming pool. I actually was looking forward to earn Avios with my current account, but seeing how difficult is to be seen, I’d rather bank with a proper bank that I can interact with if ever needed than these wanna be modern incompetent company
I have been with Barclays Bank since March 2010, and my wife even longer. I went into this branch on 05/04/24 to setup my daughters first bank account after waiting to be helped the lady told me "oh you can't do that today you'll need to make a appointment and there aren't any available for more than a week. Well I walked straight out, walked across the street, and opened an account for my daughter at HSBC with only a 20mins wait. So sad to see how far this Barclays bank has fallen and how many branches are closing.
Barclays Bank Orpington. What a terrible shame this branch is gone. Always seemed very busy to me with ques of people outside. The staff were very helpful and my mother enjoyed going there. Was it really vital for this branch to go ? What a very poor image look for the bank putting its shareholders first and the older generation last.
I've been banking with Barclays for last 17 years and have mortgage for some time. It's not only this branch but Barclays services on the slide down. Since covid they still cover themselves with covid thing. Most of them advisors work from home and can't be bothered to see you face to face in the branch. I had abysmal experience with mortgage advisor last year as she stopped answering her mobile. There is no branch number you can call just general, useless, helpdesk with kids behind the phone. I went to the branch and asked to see advisor and was told that no one works in the building anymore and I can only book one via the phone. I was provided phone number which proved to be wrong Barclays but different matters. I spoke to useless helpdesk again. Now I'm in process of moving my accounts and mortgage to other lender. If I can't use branches why would I use more expensive Barclays other different, much cheaper online lender. You people at Barclays need to get a grip and come back working from branches. Most other businesses moved on after covid. Now they close at 3pm ehh
The ques here is terrible. The service is the poorest I've ever experienced in England.. Closing Orpington branch is the worst thing that ever happened to Barclays. They'll definitely loose customers like me.
Rude staff. I came today deposit money and asked lady who works there at the floor for a pen and note to write on. She was bad mood, rude and throw paper at me it was shocking honestly! Why work there if unhappy and treat costumers this way ?

Shortage of staff at the Bromley branch and shorter opening hours. Been having to go into the branch more frequently since they have not been resolving my issues 1st time round. Saw one person sitting on the floor as there were queues to see someone.. 1hr to 2hr waiting times so I had to walk out
