Great experience, excellent food, service and atmosphere. Friendly professional staff. Would have been nice for some complimentary bread and a palate cleanser and a couple of dishes could have done with some green vegetables but overall we had a brilliant time and will definitely come back when we are next in Leeds.Food: 5/5
Best meal we have ever had, by a royal mile… what a stunningly amazing experience!!! Food amazingly good, soooo tasty and the service was outstanding!!! Thank you to all the team for an outstanding experience!
Despite the very high price and opting for the “enhanced menu” our Christmas present to each other was a once in a lifetime experience. We’re new parents so having someone open the door, take our coats and give my wife a hook to hang her bag on was amazing. The synchronised water pour into our glasses was majestic. The food was great and the enhanced menu had some very enhanced flavours given to us by the chefs which was brilliant 3 dishes at the price it was can easily be skipped. Toilets and setting was beautiful and the team who served us made us feel very special despite it being the first day back for them since the Christmas break. The atmosphere was quite loud once all the tables were full but the subtle music helped bring everyone back down! The menu we had included a lot of fish but it didn’t feel overwhelming as all the others were varied. The story telling with the cutlery watch the handles! was right up my street. We decided not to take many photos so we didn’t ruin the experience but the photo of the mangosteen was sadly the worst taster and it was the last one! Totally expected chef chefs not to be good at desserts but this left us wanting something sweet which sadly we didn’t get. Other than that it’s a 4.9 out of 5!
A wonderful eating experience. Gastronomically, technically and creatively brilliant food. The decor is top notch, the staff are attentive and knowledgeable. You will get a selection of small dishes and leave full. Would definitely go back, would definitely recommend.
Absolutely stunning dining experience from start to finish. The food was delicious, and the staff attentive without being overbearing, offering some excellent recommendations for drinks too. The atmosphere was relaxed and warm. It felt safe, for anyone concerned about COVID. My one point of contention is that the current menu includes foie gras, which I was a little uncomfortable with and not as uncomfortable as the poor force fed animals. Did I eat it anyway? Of course I did. I am a hypocrite that loves good food.
It's a unique experience worth trying out of you're a foodie and great to share it with friends or family. The atmosphere and service is what stands out the most. Very chill, friendly and great place to have conversations. The place is decorated in black and white excellently, and the food in the tasting menu comes in black and white too. That said the taste is all kinds of grey. Most of the dishes, while surprising and texture wise well composed, they're not so great taste wise. You're not meant to love every dish in the tasting menu, but I didn't care for most of them. They were a visual experience, but failed to impress on the taste more often than not. That said a couple of the dishes were very good, and the wine selection was excellent.
Amazing place. We went there to celebrate my partner's birthday. We ordered 12 dishes experience with paired wines. It was amazing culinary experience, spectacular and delightful! If you are a foodie you must visit this place!
I have to admit, I don't think this was worth the money. The meal was £300 + a Service charge for two of us on New Years Eve for a 10 course tasting menu and spent £92 on a bottle of Australian Shiraz. When spending that much on an evening at a restaurant I feel that I should be fussy, so this is a warts and all review of the evening. It was raining when we arrived and the doors had just opened, the system was not booted up for registering guests, so the staff were preoccupied and told us to sit in the waiting area, coats were soaking and not taken from us. During the evening 2 of the courses were served at the same time kind of not separate courses then..., One course arrived before the previous course had been taken away from the table. Cutlery was not replaced between courses, the table was never swept. We elected for the vegetarian menu, which was priced the same as the normal menu, and the flavours were predominantly potato, and onion. One course included Butternut Squash which was not cooked enough so had a slightly fibrous texture to it. One course was described as having 'sea vegetables' I had to ask for more information on this, as I felt 'sea vegetables' didn't really give the ingredients the appreciation they deserved especially as they were the most flavoursome part of the dish. The final course was a whiskey cocktail and some whiskey fudge, the fudge had puffed rice on the top, and as I ate them, the texture was soft, suggesting they had been kept in the fridge and had softened over time. Overall, the food was nice, the atmosphere and decor was amazing, and the staff were friendly, but I just felt like there was more polish needed and so for that reason I have given it three stars, and probably wouldn't recommend this to a friend.
Absolutely stunning food. Had Sunday lunch with wine pairing. Our waiter was very well informed and provided full details of each dish and the accompanying wine. Recommend for a special celebration.
The food was excellent however the amount of optional extras you are faced with is a little confusing and devalues the entire experience. ‘Do you want an enhanced tasting menu?’ - The tasting menu should already be the best dishes the restaurant has to offer. Asking this immediately makes me think I’m getting sub par experience. There are 3 tiers of wine pairings. This makes me think by getting the signature wine pairing I’m getting bad wines. There should be one wine pairing , even if it means it’s charged at a slightly higher price. £20 for Prosecco and oysters on arrival - I understand this is an expensive restaurant but come on , that should be included. Optional extra cheese board at the end. This should be included in the tasting menu as standard if you think it adds to the experience so much. Then on the evening we were offered optional caviar, and an optional extra glass of wine half way through the meal despite getting the wine pairing. I understand this is a business , but I left feeling that home commercialised every thing they could even after paying for an expensive meal and pairing.
