We had been chatting about going here for about two years and finally went, this restaurant certainly did not disappoint our expectations it totally exceeded them! The food was out of this world, so many amazing tastes and all sourced from Scotland. The staff were so professional and couldn't do enough for us. I will definitely be back very soon. I would highly recommend trying this restaurant.
As a self proclaimed foodie, this is hands down THE BEST meal I have ever had. The food was fresh with an unbelievable taste and the presentation made it look like modern art! The kitchen staff are one of a kind and a credit to the owner/chef Rab who has a very ovbious passion for cuisine and service. Louise at front of house will make you feel even if it’s your first time at the inn like you have been a thousand times before with attentive service and a genuine friendly can-do attitude. I drove 2.5 hours to get here and stay the night. IT IS SO WORTH IT WE ALREADY HAVE PLANNED TO RETURN. The room was so so charming, better than some 5* resorts! Clean, HUGE and homely with a mix of traditional and modern decor. Smart TV’s and plenty of sockets/lights/ amenities/pillows/ refreshments/ towels etc. Well done to everyone there, a true gem of Southern Scotland; the best meal I have ever had!
Room was very cramped, no space for clothes, no socket near very small mirror to dry hair, only suitable for one night stay. Dinner was amazing, faultless. Beer selection on draught was poor. Overcharged £50 on bill but only noticed this when we had to ask for itinerary. Overall below expectations
Delicious lunch only issue was first glass of house white was awful. Food excellent and wine ordered for the table was fine. Hope to be back.Service: 5/5
The food and service at the restaurant is 5/5. Chef and the team are good. We were there on Saturday and Sunday, this gave us a chance to try out the food both days. 'Chef snacks' are the most fun, because you don't know what they are testing out. All the food is good. Beef, fish, scallops. The sticky toffee soufle - incredible. My personal favourite were the poached eggs. Perfect poached eggs, both days. This is to be mentioned because too often, reviews get sidetracked by the circus of sprinkles. But, the simple things, done well, are the true mark of a genius team. Special Mention to Louise, who does about a hundred jobs and with a smile on her face.
This is our 2nd overnight stay and everything was as good as our first. Our room is spacious with a good sized bathroom and gorgeous Noble Isle toiletries. Our meal was superb. The Chef's Snacks were outstanding. The starters through to the dessert were delicious, beautifully presented and accompanied by a gorgeous red wine recommended by Louise. Louise is ideal at front of house - very friendly, welcoming and obliging. Nothing is a problem for her, she waitressed last night on her own and managed to make every dinner feel special. The owner/chef Rab is also very friendly and a terrific chef. His kitchen staff are a credit to him and worked in the open kitchen with calmness and no histrionics. We'll definitely visit again worthy of 5 stars and a listing in the Michelin guide.
Great service and lovely menu but all my food was very salty. I thought it was just my personal taste but my partner said the same about theirs. With less salt, it would be amazing.
Nice fancy expensive food. Unfortunately they won't let you box up any food to take back to your room. Set menu and I couldn't eat it all due to stomach surgery. We spent over £300 on dinner bed and breakfast, then were billed an extra £100 as my partner spilled a glass of red wine in the bedroom.Rooms: 4/5
Me and my partner went here for dinner, whilst staying in Dumfries for a few nights. The staff where very pleasant and the service was outstanding. Our drinks and food came very quickly, and the food was like nothing me or my partner had ever tasted before. The restaurant dry age the meat and display it in the dinning area, which was a lovely touch. It is on the pricey side, but it’s definitely worth the money! would recommend to anyone and will be back again to try more delicious food!!!
We absolutely love this place. Have been 5 times now. We travel 1.5 hours to come. Highly recommend, food and service always absolutely amazing.Service: 5/5
