A little corner of Amalfi in Farringdon. Real family location - the parents are painted into the clasically-cheesy wall paintings. While there were no red-chequered table cloths or straw Chianti bottles, the food and welcome were very authentic and enjoyable. Reasonable portions, served promptly. A very welcome change from the characterless chains that fill the area.
Loved it so much, small but lovely. Full of home cooking atmosphere. The 2 courses deal was really good. Love their pizza and pasta and of course the appetizer. Hope they are not closed forever, just doing some refunising job.
There are few places in London you can have 3 courses for £14.50. This is a family run Italian restaurant with a dated appearance. The food is simple and honest. It's good value and is usually busy, even on weeknights. Not worth a dedicated trip but worth stopping by if you're in the area. Pizza is good too.
This has to be the WORST restaurant I have ever been to in London. The place is filthy. My boyfriend ordered sardines as a starter they were completely raw in the middle, my avocado and prawn starter was very basic and they left the label on the avocado which makes me think it wasn't washed before serving. They waitress gave me a wine glass when I wiped the rim it was black with dirt!!!! But it gets worse, I ordered cannelloni and it was the most disgusting thing I ever tasted in my life the meat tasted gone off and they burnt it to the plate!! My boyfriend went for a pizza it was tiny and the toppings RAW!!! We couldn't eat the food it was just BAD BAD BAD and over priced. I complained to the manager and we had to pay for the wine we left hungry and very angry, I can not believe this place is still open its a DUMP dont eat here!!!! I really feel like complaining to the Food Safety Authority this place is a health hazard.
Restaurant was okay. Had the dinner meal plan. Had the calamari as the starter which was okay. Pizza for main. Pizza had no real taste to it. Finally a shot of amaretto for dessert which was pretty standard. In all it's okay for around that area, wouldn't go back though.
I had a lovely vegan pasta, the chef made it specially for my request. It was real Italian cuisine, I've been served in less than 5minutes!!! Will visit again for sure!
An Italian restaurant in an escalatingly trendy area which manages to retain a homely and comfortable ambience. The interior is fairly small and 'homespun' you will see what I mean on your way to the toilets. There is also some seating on the pavement outside but this is clearly only usable in good weather. I suppose the congeniality I experienced was helped in large measure by the fact that it was not crowded when I visited. But I can imagine it being otherwise at peak times. I felt it was a bit pricey : but that good value is their "two/three courses for a set price" offer which is not overly restricted in choice and is available at both lunch and dinner times. The food is tasty and portions of reasonable size. Would I patronise again ? Yes : and I would probably go out of my way to do so if I was in the area.
Extremely small place. You get tiny table, sometimes shared with strangers. Food is delicious and worth lack of privacy. Very helpful staff, knowing what to recommend. Delicious almond desserts.
Food was ok, the woman who served us was lovely... when we came to pay the bill the bloke quibbled over 50 pence discretionary service on a total of over £100. Rude and stupid. Won't be back as its really not that great.
The service was lacking slightly and the food a bit stodgy and greasy but some of the staff were friendly and welcoming and it was a great relaxed place that we found to eat in. Wouldn't avoid it but wouldn't recommend it. They have a good selection.
