I have always been to Astoria as Portsmouth is my home town and I generally felt quite safe there. However tonight was not that case. I had lost my friends and therefore stood at the main entrance of Astoria, but on the inside due to the cold whether, contacting them saying where they should meet me/pick me up. I sent a picture of the entrance to my friends as they are not from round here and I thought it would help for then my phone being snatched out my hand by a female security guard saying I can’t do that. She continued to go through my phone and told me I was vile, looking through all my personal stuff. This then lead to the male security guards joining in a shouting abuse at me as I was told to leave. I would also like to say I was not drunk or had taken any substances due to literally finishing work an hour before hand. I will not recommend this club to anyone who comes to visit
My girlfriend and her cousin were assaulted by an egomaniac bouncer who couldn’t handle the fact that a 21 year old girl was asking to finish her drink she has just purchased conveniently right before the bouncer who assaulted them tried to kick them out. Other bouncers on site rushed to ask if they were feeling lightheaded as they correctly assumed the bouncer who had assaulted them could’ve given them a concussion but they were all sneaky enough to not implement themselves in the situation as they know that the consequences that will follow. Do not go here unless you want to run the risk of being assaulted without and thrown out by an egomaniac who can’t handle a young 21 year old woman asking to finish her drink.
The only club to go to in Portsmouth! Buzzing atmosphere, music good every time, never a dull moment! bar staff are so friendly too. Would definitely recommendService: 5/5
Kicked out for absolutely no reason. My girlfriend sat on the floor outside as there were no benches available and a security guard comes up to her. My girlfriend lent forward to hear what she security guard had to say as she had difficulty hearing her and the security guard claims she is too drunk and laying hand on her so proceeded to walk my girlfriend out in a restrained and unnecessary way as there was no threat whatsoever and claim to be starting a fight with her. Completely unacceptable, unprofessional and unnecessary behaviour from the guard which could have been easily resolved and handled if the guard has listened. Unnecessary abuse of power.
Usually, Astoria is the best place in Portsmouth for clubbing. But last night's security was ridiculous; whilst chasing after someone who wasn't even running, they crashed through the crowd, throwing people's drinks over them and knocking a woman flat onto the floor, which is stupid when security is there to protect people. As a small woman myself , I don't think I will be comfortable attending this club again, especially considering the price you have to pay for the privilege.
Staff need to get off their high horse and stop using their power to bar people from coming in. With a group of friends and a security guard who clearly just enjoys the little power he has too much barred us from coming in at all for no reason. Do not go if you want to have a pleasant night with nice staff.Service: 1/5
Very friendly good night out. Full of uni students who happened to be very friendly even though a few of them had a few too many but they were no bother at all. It's a bonus when they link up with Tokyo Joe's next door so you end up having one massive super club which is brilliant until you loose your mates, but some girls called me over and I spent the rest of the night with them until I found my mate's again. Really friendly atmosphere biggest club on the south coast and a good night out. The bouncers are top class which always makes a difference
First time coming here was kicked out after 30 minutes for a minor reason and misunderstanding even after just paying £20 to get in absolute waste of money . Staff are rude will never visit here again, should have read the reviews before going . Got people doing coke and drugs but they don’t get kicked out bouncers just take advantage need some better bouncers and staff .
Not usually a massive fan of night clubs but I had a good time here! Visiting a mate at the Uni and ended up going out and landed in Astoria. Good mix of music on the different floors, drinks weren't extortionate and the bar staff were very nice :Service: 5/5
