This is a really lovely place to dine out, the food is so flavoursome and the staff are very friendly. I thoroughly enjoy it every time I go and I would recommend it if you're in Basingstoke. 'G' is a lovely waiter and an asset to the restaurant also.
The kids spag bol is watery and too bland. My kids love this dish but here, they barely touched it. No taste at all... the beef brisket papardelle was rather bland too.. the pasta was overcooked. I couldn't taste anything. The strawberry daiquiri was also unflavoursome... Overall, it's not a great experience don't think we'll be back any time soon!
Ask, used to be our go to restaurant in town, unfortunately, this is now no longer the case. The service levels have dropped dramatically, food is missed from order and taking a long time to serve despite half the restaurant being empty. The quality of the food has taken a nose dive, where the calamari once used to be crisp and hot, now it is chewy and soggy. Pizza toppings strewn on one side, under cooked and cold. Our waitress was sweet, but unfortunately, she couldn’t stop the mistakes happening or the poor quality food. Shame really.
We asked for a table for 2 on a Saturday afternoon at 4pm, to be told 'We're only taking bookings' and so couldn't seat us. The restaurant was near empty. I counted 21 empty tables inside and more than that outside. There were about 8-10 people inside but most looked bored. I understand the need to book when it's busy but when we walked past an hour later, still empty.
Experience was very bad. Food was ok however asked for a table for 3 rather than giving us a bigger table they perched the third person on the edge of a 2 person table. Which was highly embarrassing. Also this was the second time I ordered tiramisu and this is the second time they did not have it. Again appalling service. I feel they need to improve their service and ensure they have everything on the menu. I found this experience awful and embarrassing my colleagues also felt the same and I will not be coming again. This was Ask in Basingstoke.
Was delighted to see that Basingstoke still had ASK after our local one was closed down. We went in as a family of four for my daughter‘s birthday and the service was terrible. The waiter looking after us grunted, drinks? as he approached our table to find out what we wanted to drink. My first choice of main wasn’t available so I asked if I could have chips with the Seabass instead of potatoes. They said this was fine and then went on to charge me for the chips anyway. At no point did anybody ask us if everything was okay. BTW The seabass bland, small and overpriced. Will not be returning.
After waiting for more than 50 min for food, we asked the waitress who said that we still had another 15-20 min. We had our 8 yo who was hungry and a birthday party to attend shortly afterwards so we had to leave . The manager didn’t charge us for the drinks which was welcome but it truly ruined our experience for the day having to rush to prett to eat something quickly before our party started. I won’t be going back
Extremely rude staff! I was waiting to be seated and a women on host came over and said “you can’t come in because there’s a staff shortage”! This was at 19:30pm. If you’re the boss and reading this please speak to your staff about manors and respect for the general public. I’m never spending another penny at this location
As we saw in more reviews we had same issue was 3.30 on a Sunday, place was empty and they said only bookings. Was empty, think they don’t want to make money??? But we never even going to try to go there. We went Wagamama after as always lovely customer service and quick service.
Got a delivery & quite frankly horrendous. One Pizza was completely stuck to the top of the box and because it had started to go cold couldn’t be eaten. Also ordered cheescake which looked like a milkshake by the time it got delivered. And at £25 a head..better off going to Dominos.
