Been coming this place for the last 10 years and everytime the food is top class! Would recommend this place massive to anybody who lives locally!Food: 5/5
As they open at 4.30 and I arrived at 4.45pm I expected nice fresh cooked food. The chips were awful I think they may have been from the day before. We haven't had fish and chips for a long time so very disappointed. The fish was lovely. Definitely won't visit again
Can take a little while sometimes to get served but that is down to the amount of customers they have to deal with I think and frying fresh fish and chips etc......Great bunch of people ...food is good Food: 5/5
£4.70 for a "Large chips" that was the size of a regular anywhere else. A mini fish for £3.90 that was a tiny tube of fish inside a load of batter. On top of that the food was poor. Greedy owners making excuses for massive price hikes not proportionate with what's going on.
Great food and customer service, I always use click and collect as it works swiftly. In regards to the review below I was there on Monday night collecting my order and the above customer was out of order expecting staff to remain there after hours. Staff were trying to explain politely that the food had to be collected before closing times, but Tracy wasn't agreeing. The owners of the business work really hard with long shifts we should be more considerate.
Have been a customer for over 20 years. Have put up with poor service and bad attitude from the owners for a long time, but as it’s convenient I’ve made do. Since they started online I’ve been doing click and collect as it’s better than having to wait in the shop that makes you feel they don’t want the custom. It’s ok at best - set your time and you normally have to wait 5/10 mins, but ordered tonight and the website offered 20.45 collect time. Bonus. Little one is playing a game I could make it! Order placed and money taken swiftly. 10 minutes later get a phone call to say we’re shutting at half 8 you’ll have to come then. Explained that the earliest I could get there was 8.40pm. She went to speak to the male owner who loudly said tough he would be gone. Lady came back on the phone and said sorry but they would be closed when I get there, with a tough attitude. So I asked for a refund. Sorry we don’t do refunds, you’ll have to come collect the cash. Ok I said. I’ll be there at 8.40pm. We’ll be gone she said. So I asked to speak to the owner who decided to shout down the phone at me, stating he’d been there since 8am and wasn’t working for nothing, and I would have to come back another day for the cash. I said I’m only this way on a Monday and it will be same time next week. We’ll be gone he said. I explained that he wasn’t allowed to take online payments and not offer a refund. His reply was I should have checked his opening times before ordering! Erm your website told me I could collect at 8.45pm I gave up, got my car keys and went to collect the cash. He then continued to forget I was a loyal customer and screamed at me again whilst in the shop. I explained you can’t take online orders and not be able to do refunds. It’s against the rules. He told me to leave the shop. Gladly. Avoid at all costs if you would like to be treated fairly, respectfully and not screamed at.

Used to be the case that I would easily put this as an easy 5 stars but recent experiences have soured it. My family have been loyal customers since I was a kid, at one point it was the place we would go every Friday for a takeout even just prior to the lockdowns. The pricing is reasonably fair and the food is genuinely some of the best of its kind I've had, especially in Stoke. This upped the rating to 2 stars for the sake of fairness. However, it is hit or miss on the service and in recent times it has been absolutely appalling towards us in spite of how much we've supported over the years, with seemingly no reason. Most of the staff are fine but one person in particular serves us, and seems to also hate us at the same time. It got so bad at one point that we decided to go a while without, thinking maybe it was just teething issues from the pandemic, but we returned recently and got worse service than ever before, with the staff member literally forgetting they were even supposed to be serving us and serving 4 other people behind instead, which is just inexcusable. We also had to repeat our order 5 times, they just didnt seem to be listening. And this was a purposefully very simple order after the bad experiences we had before. We are patient and understanding people but either the staff member has something against us or they just do not care about customer service and people standing around waiting for over 40 minutes for some chips, two small fish, two small sausages, and a bit of curry sauce. If this is how long standing customers are treated then I dont see why we should continue to support.
Pot luck as to whether you get good service or a miserable experience. Staff need help with their customer service skills, so unbelievably slow. Which isn't good when you are waiting in the rain. No quicker if you order on-line, which we had done. You expect the food to be ready at the agreed time surely? Be lovely just to have a 'welcome'. Food, not much better. We had a kebab which was cold and full of hard meat end cuts plus a fish and chips which, was soggy and at best warm. We do use the shop every now and then and if you time it lucky when the chips are fresh the meal can be excellent. Won't be hurrying back any time soon.
