It was dreadful. Older Spanish Vicious looking mother manager smoking in restaurant before taking it out. £7 cheese platter was cheap cheese, stale quince, 3 stale sayo biscuits. Main £9.50 meatballs frozen in middle microwaved and no flavour. If they served this in Spain they would be sent to North Korea for hard Labour. Don't go give this old b@tch any money. Read below at other reviews. Wow!!!
Lukewarm, flavourless food, awful service, bland atmosphere. Our meals came with toast, but no butter or oil was offered. We asked for some and were snapped at that there wasn't any. Staff is rude, terse and seems angry. One of our orders was incorrect, but we dared not tell the server, as they'd been rude since we walked in the door. I notice a lot of 5-star reviews for this restaurant are from people who have only done a single review...makes you wonder...
Terrible staff, terrible food! DON'T EAT HERE! Waiter made me feel like I was an inconvenience right from the start. Didn't greet just slapped down the menu. I ordered the lunch special and a tap water. He then aggressively started telling me how unhealthy the tap water was in the area. When I got the food it was warm on the top and cold on the bottom, clearly been warmed in the microwave. The veg paella mushrooms, old peas and red pepper was tasteless and oily. I ate half and requested the bill. When the bill came I informed the waiter how unpleasant he had been and he started arguing with me. I told him the food was also poor and he said "You're entitled to have your misguided opinion". That was the slam dunk! Never again.
Had a really great lunch here today, delicious red wine had two glasses along with the Artichoke salad, also had the Serrano Ham which is the best I've had in London, followed by a great coffee served with a complimentary biscuit. Sat outside in the sunshine on super-comfy chairs unlike other venues in area they have clean soft pillows! This venue is south facing and therefore basking in the sunshine all day;- Sun-worshippers take note! Had the sun on my face whilst enjoying the glass of red wine, blissful watching the world go by! Can highly recommend as a great spot to people watch! Staff are always friendly and attentive. Other reviews on here do not sufficiently appear to reflect this venue in its true light. I'm a fussy local and I can only recommend this place, always a friendly welcome received, which is why I return every time. Cool relaxed vibe. Love it.
Very rude and aggressive manager and poor quality service. Food, when they have it, is average at best. My bread with olive oil was stale and hard. I ate a bit, realised it was all stale and asked the waitress to take it back. Manager storms out, and says very unpleasantly that it can't possibly be stale and, anyway, I had already eaten two pieces of it. Paella bland and cheese average. Bottled water excellent.
There seem to be some odd reviews here which are not for this restaurant. Truth is this place is awful. Looks great from the outside but the staff are rude, the food is absolutely terrible and it’s expensive for the awful quality you get. We ordered tapas and every dish was bland or disgusting. The chorizo and bean stew was just a few beans and bits of chorizo. No idea how you can make a dish so flavourless. It cost NINE POUNDS and was tiny! It either came out of a can or out of the bin. Never seen this place busy. No idea how it survives. Such a shame because we’re local and we were really looking forward to trying this place. Don’t waste your time or money
The worst service in my lifetime. Absolutely must be shut down. We went to eat. The food was dreadful. Even worse was the service. This was something from a horror show. The owner and the woman server strangely looked the part. We ordered food and sat down outside to eat. There was only one table which was occupied at that time and the couple sat outside as well. My teenage daughter joined us and sat next to us but was not going to eat. The proprietor rudely said she has to leave once he learnt she was not going to order. He then refused to serve water saying that water is served only with food. We had to tell him it was for us. The couple who was at the nearby table was shocked as badly as us. Initially it was so absurd that I thought this was a crude joke may be a “Spanish humor”. However the next table folks assured that this was not reflective of Spanish hospitality. Is there a complaint site in the city to lodge and revoke licenses of such extreme behavior? Is there a way to rate even less.? This place is an insult to the lone star.
Popped in for lunch as it was very quiet. The food was ok, nothing special so would agree over priced. Went for the lunchtime set menu of mushrooms and ham with a can of coke and it set me back £12.00. Nice for a one off whilst visiting the area doubt I would come back though. Didn't see the staff issues but I was the only one there and managed not to upset them.
Bad food, bad service, good location! Pretty much every thing I tried there seems like it was from a can. The place is always empty but the servers still don't seem to care to serve to bring you your food- I can only conclude this place is actually a front for money laundering. Even with the high margins from taking canned olives, meat or tortillas and reselling them at 300%, I don't get how they stay open with such low patronage, which is seemingly encouraged by the terrible service. What a shame because if it were good, I would have totally become a regular. Try Iberica up the St or maybe even Goya if you want Spanish tapas around here
Amazing food and service by Francesco. Very Sweet and serviceminded. Use to travel a lot in Spain and miss it so much. Francesco made us feel at home in Spain with his personality and singing. We will for sure visit Art of Tapas again. Elin and Pia from Denmark
