Open 7 days a week, ARLO bistro and cafe is a well-established part of Jesmond life, offering a fantastic menu of food and drink to take you through from morning till night.

We offer everyday eating - from fantastic breakfasts to delicious and unusual lunches and candlit evening meals, with regular specials and offers that always offer something different.

Informal yet stylish décor greets you with a distinctly Swiss feel. Memorabilia and photographs adorn the walls of Brentwood Avenue’s newest eatery courtesy of Lucas’ grandfather – an Alpine explorer.

Lucas’ influences of working in New Zealand, Italy and South Africa add a fascinating twist to the menu. Steaks, seasonal produce and locally sourced fish are impressively served and add to a truly unique dining experience that you will want to experience again and again

Called in on an impromptu trip. Very busy before Christmas, still the staff were friendly, welcoming, happy and attentive. Service was great throughout. I had breakfast Turkish eggs with steak.. which was amazing. I can’t fault the experience, service or the food. Worth a detour for!!

I went for breakfast with my daughter and her boyfriend. Myself and my daughter ordered the Giant Hangover Crumpet and the boyfriend ordered a Full English Breakfast. Also ordered 2 bottles of Ginger Beer and a bottle of Diet Coke. Everything came swiftly and I can honestly say if there's a better breakfast on Tyneside I've yet to see it. Absolutely outstanding food, lovely staff, and fairly priced. Will be going back ASAP. 10/10
The decor and atmosphere was the best part of the experience myself and my wife found stopping by for breakfast. Parking was good. Service was very good and food arrived promptly. Breakfast menu had a good selection but unfortunately the food was average at best. Eggs Benedict but the muffin wasn’t hardly toasted and the Hollandaise Sauce was cold and tasteless. Breakfast was missing items that I feel makes a breakfast like a hash brown and black pudding. Also the bacon and Sausage was hard and small. Underwhelming. Prices are reasonable but would expect better quality and portion for the price.
Really lovely café/bistro with great staff and great service. The food is lovely and there's a very varied selection available including an amazing breakfast and lunch menu. The cakes and coffee are very nice and there is outdoor seating available however it is very popular.
This place really isn't for me. I tried this out for a date night on a Saturday night. It was pretty quiet inside, but the restaurants along the street were full. When it came to the menu, there was a lot of choice for seafood but not a lot of choices for people who like meat, so I settled for the burger. Average at best and expensive in comparison to the quality, I also decided to upgrade to the hangover fries... undercooked, but the sauce was good. The decor was really cool and unique, but the place smelt musty. Overall, average food. Great service.

One of the best spots in Jesmond! Delicious food, cakes always excellent and fresh. The whole place has a lovely atmosphere and the new outdoor area at the back is a great addition to!
My friends and I went looking for a nice day meal and ended up in Arlo. I was really skeptical at first after seeing the menu because I was worried it won’t be a great experience. However, I was awestruck with the service we got. The experience was not only beyond amazing but the staff made it even warmer. They attended to us swiftly and were very meticulous and friendly. The food was super tasty and we loved every bite. My son even got a free meal based on an adult spending over £10. Wish there was more than 5 stars to give!
