We had a lovely time here, stopped in for a pint and some dinner. The food was super tasty, and the beer was good. The staff though, they were really the best! Friendly and chatty, really helpful and just made the place really welcoming. Lots of dogs around too, which made our pup feel very at ease. Next time we'll stop for a show!
This pub is just fantastic. Have been going here for years and it never fails. Been twice to eat in the past week and the food is faultless, the staff are brilliant and so helpful, polite and welcoming. This exactly how a pub should be - great drinks, fantastic atmosphere, top food and so so hospitable. Even has a theatre...! Can't recommend this pub more.
Popped in for a Sunday lunch after seeing a client nearby. Pub was busy and I hadnt booked however friendly staff squeezed me in and I am so glad they did! Very nice roast chicken dinner! Big portion and great flavour, I will definitely be back!
We held our wedding at The Alma Tavern & Theatre the weekend before Christmas. It is a perfect venue, with attentive, accommodating and wonderful staff and the food was superb! Thank you for making our special day so memorable and relaxed.
Great pub with tiny, intimate theatre above. Reduction on food cost if going to a show as well. Saw couple of excellent amateur plays the other night. Great night out all round.
The best Sunday roast I have ever had - absolutely banging. Recommend the beef. Fast service and lovely staff. Great local ale too. I'll be back.
Gorgeous pub and food and staff just brilliant !! Fave pub in Bristol
An interesting place to stay...the rooms are two floors above the pub with a community theatre wedged in between. Reception is via the bar - in my case this necessitated a five minute wait for the manageress to appear and show me to my room...I needed the loo, the wait cost a star. The room itself was a decent size and the shower was hot and firm jungle shower head/normal shower combo. Everything looked clean and bed was comfortable, TV a decent size, tea and coffee standard though fresh milk and bottled water was available from a corridor fridge - had to read that in the guidance notes as the manager hadn't explained them. The second star was lost because I don't think it's appropriate for a guest to have to stand on a chair in front of a tall window to fix the blind as without that intervention it wasn't going to drop, and that would have left me exposed to view from the many buildings opposite the read of the property... I'm sure I could have gone down and asked for someone to do the fix but time was tight as I had to get out for a gig night rendezvous in central Brizzle. The Tavern is brilliantly placed for walking into town though, less than 30 minutes, downhill Uber back at bed time obvs...and is also.just half an hour from the Clifton Suspension Bridge and the quirky Clifton Village - an interesting first time visitor experience
Allow time for parking ….can be tricky nearby. It was a little unclear how to get upstairs to the little theatre there’s someone at a table taking numbers. Shortly before the performance a man comes and says it’s time. Stairs to climb. The performance’Caitlin’ was wonderful and we will definitely be back !
Good place to eat. High hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen. Fresh and quality products. I sometimes work in the kitchen and I have seen everything perfect. Toby is charming.
