Continues to be the best price supermarket. Shop is a good size and seems well stocked. Everything laid out well and easy to find. Got everything I wanted. Staff are friendly and very helpful, long line at till but staff work that well it went down in no time
I love it here! Reasonable prices and fast hard working staff!!! It has everything I need easy access for parking! 5 stars!!!
Can't go wrong shopping here. They have auto checkouts, so don't need to wait too long. Prices of goods have been steadily rising, just like the other stores, but this is still one of the cheapest.
Between reading previous reviews and having spoken to another customer on our way out the store I can see that this is not a problem only we have. The lady who I have deduced is "Store supervisor Sue" is in no way fit to be working a customer facing job. Sue *helped* us today through the self checkout and I left absolutely irate, her attitude was so stroppy and aggressive that it was almost comical. Quite frankly I felt so disrespected that I very almost left £50* worth of shopping where it was and walked out The self-check out flashed red a handful of times and not once did she interact with a "I'll be right there" or "just a moment" but each time stomped over, huffing, puffing and tutting, making as little eye contact as she could. This is not an isolated incident, I tend to thankfully use the North Shields branch now since moving but each time I'm in the area and need something I dread a visit to the Whitley Bay store at the risk of experienceng Sue and her unwarranted rage I don't know what her problem is but as other customers have said Sue needs to grow up and stop making her bad day somebody else's. I was talking to my mam about how awful we'd just been made to feel as we were putting the trolly back and a lady getting her trolly overhead us and asked if we meant "the older lady with the long hair" and said that she "tries to avoid her at all costs" I actually cannot comprehend how this woman is still employed, I have worked in customer facing jobs my whole life and would not dare never mind want to treat a customer the way she treats people. This needs adressed, how is this even allowed? Ridiculous behaviour, Cheer up Sue
Excellent store. Great value and great selection of top quality items. Their own brand Chocolate treats are nicer than Cadburys.
Make sure you ALWAYS take bags with you to this aldi as they hide the bags from customers and make you ask for them probably to stop people taking them without paying but that can easily be resolved by someone manning the tills it’s not really fair to tar everyone with the same brush it then becomes a huge issue when there’s only 1 staff member serving weekly shops on a manned till and that same staff member is expected to look after the self check outs. I thought the whole point in self check out was to make it quicker especially if you don’t have many items but it defeats the whole object when you’re stood there like a pleb waiting for someones weekly shop to go through and the staff dont always know you are waiting either. Gone are the days aldi was a quicker shop it takes twice as long just to get the small things now.
BEWARE OF STORE SUPERVISOR ‘SUE’ AT THE TILLS. SHOULDER LENGTH BLONDE HAIR AND A BAD ATTITUDE. SHE IS RUDE, MEAN, INPATIENT AND MAKES YOU FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO. SHE SHOULD NOT BE IN A CUSTOMER FACING ROLE WITH THE WAY SHE ACTS AND SPEAKS TO CUSTOMERS!!!! I have never felt more disrespected and disgusted in my life. I was with my boyfriend in this Aldi around 9:15/9:20 pm. As we made our way to the tills the self checkouts were closed and so we had to use the conveyor belt, something which we try not to do because of this very reason. As we were walking over we realised that we had forgotten butter so my boyfriend had gone back to grab it and I made my way over to start putting the food on the conveyor belt. Not only was I still placing items on the belt and she sped through the previous items but kept trying to give my total as I was still unloading the shopping. As I was walking around the till to start putting it back in my basket to pack I mentioned that my boyfriend had just nipped back up the isle for the butter. She tutted at me and sighed and told me that ‘he better be quick because I’ve got a million things to do and you’re holding me up’. I found this so rude and there were 5 other members of staff on the floor and as much as I’m sure she had other jobs, it was less than a minute until my boyfriend was back with the butter. As I moved the bread and soft items to the side so they didn’t get squished she continued to sigh and tut at me as if I was the biggest inconvenience in her life. I could see my boyfriend walking down the isle back to the till so I told her that I could see him and he’d only be a second. She then proceeded to SHOUT over the whole store at him to ‘hurry up’. She was rude, impatient and frankly just quite mean during our entire interaction and I have never felt more belittled as a customer in a shop before. Quite honestly her behaviour was disgusting and if I didn’t think she was the most senior member of staff in the store at the time I would’ve complained then and there. An interaction has never annoyed me so much because there was just no need for her attitude and behaviour. She made me feel uncomfortable while I was on my own and only chirped up when my boyfriend came back to the tills who was oblivious to the whole exchange. She has made me genuinely not want to return to that Aldi store just incase she is in. I’m not saying the customer is always right as a service industry worker myself, but I am saying that the way she conducted herself was immature and plain wrong as at the end of the day I am a paying customer, it was just butter and he was less than a minute. Grow up Sue.
Just like every other Aldi really. But watch out for Sue on the tills! Pros: - Large parking area with many disabled spaces - clean - in a good area Cons: - a lot of out of stock items - limited stock other stores have more - sometimes the staff are hit and miss, some are great but when they're on tills their different people but I can appreciate that not all customers are pleasant. That being said, there's always one staff on tills blonde and a bit older who is always miserable, we now have a challenge to make her smile but she literally just throws your item at you. Overall, good store, specific stock can be hard to find and your experience might be ruined by the grumpy lady on tills ha!
Don't leave your car here if you're visiting the hospital next door. Cost u £45
Product selection was decent, store relatively clean… but then I got to the tills to be ‘served’ by the rudest cashier I’ve ever encountered. I know people joke about Aldi scanning quickly, but she literally shoved the shipping off the end of the tiny till-end so items fell on the floor. No ‘hello’ or ‘thankyou’. Just walked off after I’d scanned my debit card. Awful.
