There are only two main chippies on the high street (although you can obviously get fish and chips in pubs and restaurants all around) and both of them are owned by the same people. However, the good news is that the fish and chips are delicious! We have visited Aldeburgh many times and eaten here and the Golden Galleon many a time. Every time we have enjoyed the food. I'd recommend them both.

This is a great tourist attraction, and therefore the line is always out the door. Although the service is so good that you don't wait in the line. The food is the best fish and chips that I have ever had. They also sell drinks there. But if you are in Aldeburgh for the day or longer you should definitely go there for lunch.

Absolutely the best fish & chips I've ever had. Friendly & extremely efficient staff, spotlessly clean. Sitting on the sea wall, eating such fresh cod & chips, watching the sunset, Bliss! Expect to queue tho, but well worth the wait.

Phenomenal fish and chips. Amazingly fresh. Take them straight to the beach just 2 mins away and enjoy them with a view of the sea. Don’t worry if the queue is snaking down the street - it’s worth the wait.

So the queue for this place should of been a good sign but unfortunately it was not. I ordered a large haddock and chips with a coke and my other half had scampi and chips. Now the fish while cooked beautifully was not a large haddock, wasn't even a small haddock it was just a tail of a haddock. The chips were not good, the flavor of the potatoes they use was not appealing and our entire group of 8 agreed the chips was naff. The scampi was okay, nothing special, no home made tatre sauce was a let down. Too add insult to injury our entire party felt very sick at the end of the day and that being the only place we had eaten. Will try again but not a good start 2/5
