Addenbrooke's Hospital

Story

Addenbrooke's Hospital is an internationally renowned teaching hospital in Cambridge, England, with strong affiliations to the University of Cambridge. Addenbrooke's Hospital is based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. The hospital was founded in 1766 on Trumpington Street with £4,500 from the will of Dr John Addenbrooke, a fellow of St Catharine's College. In 1976, the hospital moved to its present premises on the southern edge of the city at the end of Hills Road. The old building now houses the Judge Business School. The hospital is run by Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and is a designated academic health science centre.ServicesAddenbrooke's provides a full range of clinical services, with the exception of cardiothoracic surgery, which is provided at the nearby Papworth Hospital (due to be re-located to the Cambridge Biomedical Campus in 2017). It is a designated UK Major Trauma Centre. Addenbrooke's was the first regional Major Trauma Centre in England to become fully operational and was featured on the BBC documentary series 'Life Savers' in 2013.

Based on my personal and devastating experiences, particularly over the last weeks with the tertiary care specialists in Clinic 4a Urology and Clinic 21 Gynecology, I believe this hospital failed in its most sacred duty, despite mostly positive prior experiences elsewhere in the hospital. Falsification of medical records, negligence and malfeasance have become too common at Addenbrookes, though there are special reasons for why I have been the target of such behaviour.nnI should also note that the Reception and attending staff are excluded from my negative assessments. I am sharing this not out of anger, but from a place of profound hurt and a need to warn others from entrusting and endangering their lives here. What I endured went beyond medical error; it was a sustained campaign of deliberate harm, triangulation and obstruction, motivated by prejudice and external interference by my former GP surgery. Unfortunately, I can no longer consult tertiary care specialists or consult the local hospital for beneficient care as a result of these sustained attacks on my medical care by outside parties.nnThe emotional and physical toll has been immense. I was systematically violated, bullied and betrayed by those I was taught to trust. Instead of being safeguarded, I was subjected to even more abuse by several of the people here during the worst times of my life. The deliberate sabotage of my care by specialists didn't just damage treatment—it traumatised me during my most vulnerable moments and caused real, documented deterioration in my health, prognosis and ability to recover. I have lost my ability to trust any medical facilities again. If you want to be physically harmed, conspired against, permanently traumatised and blacklisted from seeking medical care, by all means, go to this hospital.
Having had a recent stay in paediatrics for my 5month old, the nurses Molly being a great one and doctors were amazing, very attentive, supportive and kind. Everywhere was clean and tidy. Despite the ward being full, anytime we needed anything someone came instantly. We were transferred from A&E and again the nurses and junior doctors were faultless. Grateful to have Addenbrookes on our doorstep.
We had a recent stay at addenbrookes hospital, I cannot fault the care and love our daughter recieved. Staff were absolutely on it, when the NHS works, it really does make a difference.nWe had round the clock care,nAn autism nursenPlay therapistn2 anaesthetistsnA team of people in theatrenLots of nurses checking in.nPediatrician who did the op, called us just after the op, then met me in recovery to chat through the process.nEveryone spent time with us talking through the procedures and making F feel comfortable.nnIf anyone has a child with Autism/adhd knows how difficult new situations and transitions can be, im so happy with how the whole process went and the care and dedication of all the staff. I Actually felt proud to have the NHS
Proper health place proper professional people genuine gentle carefully.nNeeded this place for my son bike accidentnI was really impressed with this hospital and all the management and all the professionals working here feels good to know that the money we pay to NI actually keep institutions as this one in good working conditions and professionals are paid as they deserve.nThank you so much everyone there.
God forbid to be seriously ill and counting on this hospital and its staff. I am trying for third day in a row to phone the Phlebotomy and book a blood test. Some may say - that's basic, right? Well, it is a mammoth task - you can't find anyone on the phone line.nnThe first day I've waited 45 minutes being 4th on the que. At some point I realized nothing is going to happen. Rang again minutes later only to be told by another recorded message that 'unfortunately' there are not enough operators to take my call.nThe reception have pretty great opening hours - from 12 until 4:20.nnI called the next day, when the recorded message about the lack of staff was the first thing I've heard. Same today, this time the message says there will be someone tomorrow. So my question is how many people work on reception and how many days per week?!nIn my despair I decided to drop by and just wait on the line, hoping they might have time for me just to remind everyone I am employed and I am paying for NI every single month...No luck, I found a massive que of people and I was told they won't be able to take our samples, as they will be closing at 5.... I really want my money back for the non-existing services provided by the 'holy' NHS....
